Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

Despite the clickbait title, this is a cool little video showing creating a preset using a template, and using the XY grid for more ambient effect adjustments.

What is anyone supposed to do with that? You didn’t use the same IR, so there’s virtually nothing anyone could conclude here other than that they sound different just as one would expect them to. Different cab, speaker, mic, mic position, preamp, and who knows on eq treatment.

D
The same IR is used. I sent him the amp only and he added the IR. Also, I sent him the Stadium Amp only with disabled cab.

You can hear the same differences in the original clips I posted but with my IR.

So, I gotta admit I haven't played with the XY controller at all. But I'm wondering what the use case is? Are people really going to lean over and fiddle with the touch screen during the middle of a song?

It seems like a potentially extremely cool feature; I just don't understand how we're supposed to use it in an actual live performance situation (at least until the iPad mirroring I'm really hoping happens becomes an actual thing).

Howdy folks! Please try to be kind with me on this problem that I can't seem to figure out. I got my Helix Stadium and was able to get it connected to WiFi, got the update from 1.0 to 1.1 taken care of with no issues. But, I can not get my Helix Stadium Edit to connect via Wi-Fi or Ethernet to take care of manipulating some presets, IRs, etc. on the Helix Stadium unit itself. It simply will not connect. I've tried manual connections, auto-connections,etc. I've never had issues like this with WiFi and hardware/software connections, editors for other applications, etc. And, I'm pretty sure I'm doing something just plain stupid on my part -- apparently! Have any of you just not been able to connect via WiFi or Ethernet once your get past the initial 1.0 to 1.1 connection and firmware update? I would kinda' like some affirmation that I'm not a total dummy. I just cannot seem to get the Helix Stadium Editor to shake hands and be nice with the Unit itself. Any guidance, clarification or similar issues any of you may have had similar to mine? Many thanks in advance for any pointers you can offer. I'm 63, a former validation technician, a user of all Line 6 products esp. the Original Helix from 10 years ago and still holding on to it as a backup, etc. Merry Christmas and good health and well-wishes to you, my friends! If you can assign it to an expression pedal or even a one-shot button press you could do all kinds of fun stuff.

Hi and welcome :)

I’m afraid I don’t have any particular wisdom on this but mine ‘just worked’ and claims to be connected - hx edit again ‘just worked’ which isn’t helpful to you! Sorry about that.

The only thing I did see was a user who had connection issue similar to yours was advice to make sure it was on the same physical network. I have a wifi extender here and normally I connect everything to that but my PC is actually hard wired to the router so I connected my Stadium to the router WiFi itself, not to the WiFi extender. I don’t know if this is significant or not but, as it works, I’m not going to poke it with a stick! If you look back to the early part of this thread you might see a few folks who struggled but I can’t remember if I saw the hx connection issues mentioned here or somewhere else…..

There’s also the 1.2 update due to drop sometime before Christmas so that might cheer things up too but you’ll have the chicken and egg of needing to be on the WiFi to get it!

Good luck with finding a fix - hope you get it working.

I initially had some issues with wifi, but mine started with not being able to download the update. I'm a retired engineer and we love to tell the story of all we did to troubleshoot and isolate issues, but I'll skip that part. What wound up mitigating the situation is I put a wifi extender in my music room and have my Stadium and the PC I run the Stadium App on connect to the extender for wifi. Even once I got through the update the Stadium app<->Stadium XL connection was at best erratic without the extender.

So in the sense my approach was opposite what Gary_W did above. But in my situation, with the extender, aside from the app and device losing connection once every 1-2 hours of connect time, I can connect to the editor pretty reliably. And those editor/device disconnects don't seem to affect Stadium's operation, just requires a manual mouse click on the host device to reconnect if desired.

It seems like most people have had little to no wifi connection issues, but you're definitely not alone nor likely to be doing something that would put you in total dummy territory. In my case less than optimal wifi signal strength in the room seemed to cause connection issues. And you do need to make sure both the computer and Stadium device are both connected to the same wifi source, can't have one connected to a router and the other connected to an extender, e.g.

I'm similar in that I was grounded in the OG Helix (LT in my case) ecosystem fro the last 8 years or so. And at this point I'm intending to hang on to it. But I'm really liking Stadium. Hopefully future updates will mitigate the wifi connection issues some of us are having.

Good luck!

Guess you missed the examples in the thread of the 2203 being darker than HX Legacy and Fractal then?
I didn’t. And I find that odd. If anything, the Agoura model can be slightly brighter in my experience. But using the same settings and IRs on both units, they are damn near identical to me. I was hard pressed to tell the difference unless I looked at which unit I’d selected on my A/B switcher.

I was expecting my Stadium in the beginning of January, but the rep called me and told me he got it today and I should get it tomorrow or Friday 🥳

@Digital Igloo I don’t mind if you decide to release 1.2 before then. When I bought Helix in January 2016, I’m pretty sure you guys released 1.6 with the Matchless and other goodies 😎

Can’t wait to see what you do with in the coming months and years 🙌
