Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

I was expecting my Stadium in the beginning of January, but the rep called me and told me he got it today and I should get it tomorrow or Friday 🥳

@Digital Igloo I don’t mind if you decide to release 1.2 before then. When I bought Helix in January 2016, I’m pretty sure you guys released 1.6 with the Matchless and other goodies 😎

Can’t wait to see what you do with in the coming months and years 🙌
Congrats!

Non XL??

I didn’t. And I find that odd. If anything, the Agoura model can be slightly brighter in my experience. But using the same settings and IRs on both units, they are damn near identical to me. I was hard pressed to tell the difference unless I looked at which unit I’d selected on my A/B switcher.
This is interesting that different people are having drastically different experiences. Possibly something related to the SIC? I’ll be watching this thread closely. I haven’t had too much time to dive into my Stadium yet but it’s an amazing piece of gear. Sounds like there are some bugs to be worked out but I have confidence that Line 6 will get this done ASAP. Still using my HX floor for gigs, not sure when to make the big switch.

Helix Stadium 1.2 is now live.

I see the update, but when I try to download it on my Stadium I get "Download failed. Error code: -16". Has anyone been able to successfully install it?

I’m super pumped that Line 6 added a real deal Mark IIC+ to Stadium, but they didn’t add any factory presets for it (and the default Focus Zones aren’t the best starting points), so I made one for all of my gainheads out there.

It’s got seven Snapshots that function almost like a kitchen sink:
  1. Chorclean: Simple clean tone with some not-too-airy reverb and an Ampeg Liquifier chorus in front smoothing it out.
  2. Crush: Pure savagery dialed in like a Mark should be with subtle reverb. Perfect palm muting and rhythms.
  3. Lead: Crush with more mids, delay, reverb and a wah on by default (Go full heel down to disengage the way).
  4. Octocrush: Filthy octaved version of Crush.
  5. Crunchy8s: Slightly gained down version of Crush with 8th dotted delay for cool rhythm parts
  6. Greasy: @2112 inspired this. It’s Crush with a his HX micro pitch settings after the amp/cab. Sounds proper dirty and great for riffing
  7. Clouds: Super ambient clean for strummed chords. Adds a Ganymede reverb parallel to the Dynamic Plate and the delays
Crammed a lot into this preset including compressor, two big reverbs, multiple delays, multiple pitch blocks (There’s even a dormant PolyCapo at the beginning for you lot that like to retune on the fly), amp, dual cabs, and modulating chorus.

We said to ourselves, 'Let's make this one more concise'. And it was still an hour long, haha. But we opened with STAR WARS, so that's fun...

I'm not a high gain guy, but I really like the Mesa 2C+. My buddy Sean is my go-to for higher gain tones, and he really likes it, too. I've had some experience with a Silver Jubilee, and I really like that amp - I think they nailed it, and you can get a ton of tones out of it. And of course, the Super is awesome.

Showcase is a lot of fun - can't wait to get a bunch of tracks in Stadium to just play along with at any time.

@Digital Igloo sincerely thank you all for getting the IIC+ in there. Huge bonus points for getting the switches and even the simulclass option.

For anyone getting started with the IIC+ looking for the Hetfield super dry crunch:
Bass: 0,
Mids: doesn’t matter
Treble: 10
Bass shift: off
Deep: on
Bright: on
Lead bright: on
Treble shift: Off - yes it lowers the gain but by the time you have the treble cranked you’re getting a plenty of gain. You get a more dry gain with a more percussive attack with treble shift in.

Use the simulclass power option and set up a nice healthy V with the GEQ. It’s an incredible thing. Don’t overdo the gain.
