Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

I'd submit that they've been anything but clear about that. One off-hand comment about how the next generation of Fractal devices will make all the others "look like Game Boys" isn't exactly an announcement. That's an awful large current product line to obsolete overnight.
Well, Cliff has also stated it will have a touchscreen, NAM, and a few other specs.

Still nothing firm and clear but more than just that vague comment you mentioned

I've got a small problem concerning snapshots in the command center. In the old Helix I could assign a switch so that it would trigger snapshot 2 while pressing and snapshot 1 while releasing. I want to do the same in Stadium.
So far I see two possibilities with problems: I could assign two tasks via the command center (for press and release), but that way the scribble strips just show "Multiple" and I can't change that. Second possibility would be to activate "snapshot control" but I can only do that with the snapshot-number, not with the release/press/hold...-option.
Do you know a better way? Thanks!

I saw positive mention of the horizon gate earlier in the thread. I tried it yesterday and got a massive drop on the input signal feeding into the rest of the chain. I played with the controls but the only thing that made it *not* drop the input signal was turning it off…. I guess I’m doing something wrong but don’t know what?

I’m liking the default gate that is switchable in the input but thought I’d try this instead as others had commented positively

This one is Bogner XTC Red. One side is Stadium. The other side is Axe FX III. Dialled as close as I can get them. Did a little reamping with some DI's from the last Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster album.
For those who didn't see, Stadium is on the left. Axe3 on the right.

Here's a frozen plot of the frequency response during the palm muted chuggy bit:

Really damn close. Red is Axe3, white is Stadium. But the Axe3 has that insane low-end lift between 10-20hz. @FractalAudio I don't want to presume too much, but that might be something worth looking into??

I'm using the same impulse response on both platforms. No low or high cuts engaged in the cab blocks.

It looks to me like you could dial in quite a bit more mids on the Axe-Fx. That could also help with the low end.

The right side sounded nicer and more scooped to my ears, the left had some mid range that sounded "worse" when I quickly compared the sides. I did an ozone match EQ and its also saying to do this curve to match the left to the right. They sound pretty different to me in iso

It is also a different amp
Though too
Th Euro red modern is a 20th anniversary and also likely had the post 2004 gain mod
The Line6 appears to be an earlier 101b which can be very different , in the XTC line
There are so many Rev almost like a Recto and each of them have different fans .
Vintage , Classic , gain mod. Cameron mod all sound and respond slightly different

Really interesting comparison....thanks for posting it. I like them both, but I like the left side a bit better. To me, it sounds fuller but more congested toward the bass. The right seems a bit "scratchy"? Best sound I got was mostly the left with a bit of the right mixed in. Both are good, though.

Edit: noticed that the presence is much higher on the Axe than the Stadium. Not sure how that factors in.

Here's another one. Revv Red 3 on Fractal, dialled to taste. Versus Stadium Revv Red, dialled similarly. Aggression is turned to 2 on Stadium, which should accurately represent the Red 3 selection on Fractal.

I tell you what I noticed:
- Dialling in Stadium was a doddle, and having the switches built directly into the amp channel for all the various modes ... excellent. Far prefer it to having them broken out as individual models on the Axe3.
- Axe3 has this kind of fuzziness that I cannot dial out. The pick attack gets clouded by this kind of noisy fuzz that sits within the texture.

In this one, I really prefer the Stadium.

Not sure what you mean?
When i import an IR it sounds a little fuzzy. Not real bad but noticeably different from loading the same IR in a DAW after the Stadium. The same basic EQ is there but something is off. I plan to do a reamp with loading the same IR in Stadium vs Native.

I know IR loaders can sound slightly different but what I am hearing is making IRs seem to sound more alike.

Got to learn a few VH tunes for rehearsal tomorrow - and I can’t remember the last time I’ve played and truly just enjoyed the feel and sound I’m getting.

Just using the agoura 2203 with a cab block and some phaser. Really good! Can’t wait to see how it sounds in the mix with the rest of the guys tomorrow.

I don't hear that, but haven't compared really.

There have been known issues I have seen regarding Irs that I have seen on the Facebook page , they are looking into it I believe
