Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

For me; the "poweramps" I have and LOVE (aka Mark modern mode channels) are going to add WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too much coloration. I am going to concentrate on the FR12, studio monitors and 4CM over trying to throw Mesa sauce on top of the HX amps. I think. For now.

Ah.....I think I looked away when that appeared onscreen, but that goes away super quickly. 99 percent of the video is the REVV.

And to be fair, he created that factory preset with the Badonk (and it's a great amp, and also not 27 years old).

The Agoura high-gain options for right now are basically limited to 4 amps, and modern YouTubers keep spamming the 5153 and REVV to the detriment of the Soldano and Bogner Ecstasy,
I know. I skipped around and did watch some of the Rev parts. I will say I am still in timbuk brain mode on this point, though and however old the Badonk actually is is not a draw for me vs. real life amps I love.

JC's done a comparison video here of old and new modelling:

The Agoura EVH model definitely sounds like there's more poweramp distortion, it's much more midrangy and bloated/thick. It's the ugly sounding distortion Im hearing in other clips. IMO the older model sounds nicer.

On the lower gain models, the onset of gain sounds a lot more dynamic and I think it sounds very pleasing. I think it sounds noticeably better (for instance in his opening clips, or on the AC30). US Luxe absolutely sounds more dynamic, by comparison the old model sounds like it has a pedal in front that won't quite allow things to clean up as much. AC30 I was sort of split on, overall I think Agoura sounds better but the old model had a few tones I liked more.

That's fair. I will say that whatever your impressions are with the Stadium now, stick around and see whhich three Agoura amps they add in 1.2 in a month.

Might be a....

He's got so much nasty ass power noise creeping into his signal, that I just don't even want to listen tbh!

AC30 sounds way better to me. I never liked the Helix AC30 unfortunately because imo it never got the "fuzziness" I was looking for right. Always sounds either too dark or too strident I guess, and hard to get a good driven sound that sits in between, whereas an AC30 has a lot of space in between those extremes.

The 5150 sounds better to me too. I mean, I didn't love either tone, but the old one sounds pretty flat / less complex to me in a way where I think I'd want to hype up the sound more (too much). Not my space though, really, and I feel like I'd mess with the drive and master or something in both cases.

And agreed on the Deluxe. Sounds like they fixed the high end thing I never liked about most of the Helix Fenders, which is great. I bet it'll take drive pedals way better because of that alone.

What I'm hearing overall with these comparisons, and what seems especially apparent with the AC30 comparison, is that both can get good sounds, but that the Agoura models have more good / usable sounds across the range of controls. That's most important to me.
