I think I found the answer to my own question. This something Eric posted on TOP in response to a similar question:Do the Agoura amp models update the SIC info if the amp and cab are not linked or do they need to be a linked pair?
Pfffft. Boring. Where's Tim?I think I found the answer to my own question. This something Eric posted on TOP in response to a similar question:
"If an amp is "paired" with a cab block [link icons appear], it will use the speaker impedance curve that results from the amp and the specific cab model selected. If the amp is paired with an IR or unpaired [no link icons], it will use the speaker impedance curve associated with that amp paired with its default cab model."
After reading this, I realized that a lot of my presets did not have an amp-cab link because I had turned off the "add a cab" toggle in the amp block. I figured I would be choosing my own cab anyway. Also if I have multiple amps in a preset, I didn't want it loading an extra cab. I can't figure out in this scenario how to re-link them manually.
What does work is when you have the "add a cab" set to on, it will load a factory default linked cab. Then if you change to a different cab, the link goes away. To re-link it, drag the amp block over and touch the cab block on the touch screen and it will re-link them.
Based on this info, you might want to check if the amp-cab link is there if anything sounds weird. It might be using the default cab impedance curve instead of the one for the cab you have selected.
That's very cool.To re-link it, drag the amp block over and touch the cab block on the touch screen and it will re-link them.
So what would linking the amp to the non-original cab achieve? I am using the Orange 2x12 as my default for most every preset. I think I noticed this on one of my presets last night and was confusedI think I found the answer to my own question. This something Eric posted on TOP in response to a similar question:

If it's linked, the amp will use the Orange 2x12 SIC. If it's not linked, it will use the SIC of whatever the default factory matching cab is for that amp according to the quote. It will change how the amp responds to the cab a bit. I guess the quote came from Brandon at Line 6, but DI was just relaying the info.So what would doing this achieve? Next time I fire up the Stadium; I will give it a go. Thanks for the heads up!If it's linked, the amp will use the Orange 2x12 SIC. To be honest, I'm finding it to only make a subtle difference. In some cases I wasn't sure if I really could hear a difference. If everything already sounds good, you could just leave it alone.
I don't think anything in the manual mentions the impedance stuff, just that having the amp-cab link is a way to have it load a default cab from what I could see. That's why I was a little confused about it.
Drag the amp block where…? Am curious about that and not near my Stadium right now. Thanks!I think I found the answer to my own question. This something Eric posted on TOP in response to a similar question:

Drag it over and bump it into the cab block. I can only get it to work if the amp initially loads with a linked cab (with the add a cab switched to on in the amp selection screen). Sometimes when I change cabs, the link goes away and I can re link the new cab like this. I've had it be a bit inconsistent and sometimes the link remains. I haven't figured out why yet, but it's not that big of a deal and probably not worth worrying about.Drag the amp block where…? Am curious about that and not near my Stadium right now. Thanks!
All Tims are schmos, but not all schmos are Tims?
I've hit the point where the word "Tim" is losing meaning in my brain from repeating too much![]()
This is the stupid crap I'm talking about

I'm not curious how these work together. I'm here to see how to link a new cabinet to an amp block; not here to see how you stealthily increase those sweet YT dividends by diluting the product video with some other turd and shill presets I'm never going to buy in a million years.
What about a $60 dollar pedal?Yeah I’m not remotely interested in getting a $150 pedal working with a $2200 device, for its core tone.
