Line 6 Helix Stadium Pre-Launch Discussion

Got this from MF when I asked if my unit is in the shipment “scheduled” for tomorrow’s proposed release date:

Given the amount of order's we're unable to confirm what orders are set to release first - it would be dependent on the queue, the warehouse work load, and the shipping carrier volume for pick ups! We've had the team preparing for the release and getting everything ready to go! The current release date showing for all order currently is 11/18 so it's likely to ship tomorrow once released. The next-day would be dependent on when it's shipped and given the volume of orders may ship out ASAP on 11/18 as showing currently or could get delayed by a day or two depending on volume.

Your orders currently high in the queue so it should ship tomorrow 11/18 with the release but would need to wait to see how the warehouse releases the batches in terms of confirmaing release date!

I saw my Stadium Xl getting boxed up in that video.

@Digital Igloo - any chance of you giving us a heads up here when you guys give the official “ok to ship” notice to retailers? Like “ok you nutjobs - we just told retailers they can ship on Nov 20. Get ready!”

And bonus points for “And the manual is now accessible on Line6.com.”

I’ve rolled tubes in every amp I’ve owned. I’ve also changed bright cap values and in several cases installed switches to allow alternate bright cap values. My 1959 and 2204 both have several bright cap values available.

Ultimately I think some of us here just have wildly different needs/contexts for our gear usage, and may never fully see eye to eye.

I’m not evangelizing those parameters having to exist to compete against fractal. I’m just saying users looking for that level of specificity are unlikely to migrate to a platform that lacks it if they are coming from one that offers it.

As a concept, I’m interested in changing out tubes…. I’ve got far less experience of tube amp ownership than most people here seem to have. I have a 7w master volume only valve amp which I changed out the stock valves to see what would happen. I also built an amp from a kit (which was great fun) and I also built a whole bunch of stomp boxes (the boards or schematics on line and then I sourced the components and built them). These (mostly) played nicely with the home made amp and less nicely with the commercially available amp simply because the 7w is an angry thing anyway and really didn’t need kicking into rage.

For me, I think putting making the effort in these directions was me trying to get different flavours from what I had; I wasn’t trying to fix them - just add variety. Modelling already does that for me I think - if I already have 70 helix amps plus 40 Agoura channels that I can throw into lots of speaker combinations…… I think I would drown if I had the ability to virtually tube roll. But that’s just me :)

I completely see the reason for it and I totally get why some folks want it - if L6 can add it (relatively easily) then absolutely why not? Those that want it, want it. Me, who might have option paralysis, can safely ignore it unless I can’t get the sound I want any other way. Which is unlikely because I’ve been happy with my 13 year old solution till now :)

But I’d definitely try it :)

My main interest in being able to swap parts out digitally would be in recreating certain amps that aren't or aren't likely to be modeled. A lot of boutique amps are based on known and modeled circuits, but with a different tonestack or some things swapped or tweaked, and it's cool to be able to get in the ballpark of them in the digital realm without relying on captures or specific models.

I get very few Line 6 emails….. I get an email from Andertons every day and it’s them I ordered from.

Every single time I see an Andertons email in my inbox I get a little flutter. No bad thing but this kind of edging is likely to kill a man of increasing years and insufficient constitution

I used to get them for Helix firmware updates, about 1-2 weeks after the firmware was out and I'd already updated. The frustrating thing is that GC probably won't send me another shipping email since in their system I'm already "shipped" and got that email 2+ weeks ago, and in this mystery game we're playing I have no way of knowing what day I have to hang around for a delivery. First world problems, of course, but the whole situation sorta sucks.
