Line 6 Helix Stadium Pre-Launch Discussion

Line6 would do well to make some educational videos at release that show where you could use it. The hard part of any controller whether it's MIDI, Fractal's modifiers or the Stadium XY is to come up with the usecase. It's just hard to imagine what to do with it until you come up with a concrete problem looking for a solution. "How about these things" videos would help give people ideas and "Wait, it can do that?" moments.

Totally agree with you on this.

I mix all day, every day, using protools, an avid control surface and the ipad app and over the years, I have found my way to get the most out of them for my workflow.

I tought students how to use protools and control surfaces for several years and I saw how lost they are in the beginning and how much I had to fight against their tendency to reach for the mouse.

Most of the people are scared or simply lazy and need to be pushed and guided.

Part of that is the barrier to getting it all running like you want. I can just see a student's eyes glaze over as you talk about "well you just need to do the MIDI mapping for these plugins then save it as a template..."

EUCON doesn’t need anything like that involving MIDI or mapping things, its tight integration is a huge benefit over other integrations. IMO most of the benefits aren’t really to do with controlling plugins with it, even though it can.

I think lots of the issues people have is when they try and use things without understanding what the benefit is, and then they just go back to using a mouse because it makes more sense. The best way of using that stuff is when you aren’t even thinking about it, you just intuitively reach and do it

%That might be the case for sure.

My feeling is that stadium features, UI workflow and overall user experience will be extremely good.

OG Helix has already become an incredible machine over the years and I'm sure that Line6 really put a lot of effort in making something even better.

The simple fact that they added a touchscreen but at the same time added more knobs and buttons is a strong good sign in my book.

I agree and making it in a smaller footprint, which I think is great.

I have been watching the videos talking about the features and although I would love to have the Stadium, TBH, I would not use 90% of what's in there like many have been saying, but I would love to mess with the capturing, have the Agora amps, UI, etc. Same with the current Helix, I wouldnt use most of whats in there, but having additional blocks vs my Stomp XL would have been nice a few times. The used prices on Helix LT's are starting to look tempting to me though...

For example, our singer has an Engl Fireball 25 that he insisted I check out and I absolutely loved some of the sounds I got out of it, but not really enough to go out an buy one, but if I had the Stadium, I could capture those and move on.

I'm going to assume that eventually they will have a Stomp version of the flagship and for what I do, should be more than plenty.

Oh, didn't see that thread until you mentioned it... Kinda hard rules but I can get why that was necessary 👍🏻

overall its good for the community here. IMO, being able to police ourselves with the rules spelled out you never have to worry about the goalposts moving around or who is going to get their panties in a wad over something stupid. Before I found this place, at TOP, I got a weeks vacation poking a little fun at someone's really ugly guitar and I never saw that in the rules, so fuck them...

If that guy was so sensitive to report a joke about his guitar looks, he was probably affected by what I call SDS (Small Dick Syndrome). That's quite endemic on TOP (mods included).

Anyway, personally I would love a forum section where we could freely (but respectfully and humourously) talk about politics or religion, I think it might offer an interesting perspective given the great variety of views that people on this forum, coming from several different parts of the world, might have.
It's not like on social media where you can basically only find echo chambers confined to a specific party and/or world region.
But I also understand that could easily become a nightmare for the mods...

I understand your reasoning.

Currently I'm in a band where I'm not even using the OG Helix floor in 4cm therefore I don't see myself buying a stadium anytime soon if things stay the same.

But if it happens that I'll need to go back to an Helix + Amp rig or a full Helix one I'd certainly think about a stadium.

Even if I might never use showcase in a live situation (and I'd love to use it, honestly), just having more blocks, more paths and 2 stomp pages makes stadium worth the price Imho.

the 2 stomp pages (somenthing I've asked to add to the OG Helix since the they introduced the new command center) is fucking awesome and even if doesn't sound that cool compared to Agoura or Proxy I'm sure anyone who gigs will realize how useful and powerful that is.

2 pages with the added block count and path flexibility will make the stadium really great for big and flexible kitchen sink presets.

That was kind of the joke, that someone that likes that guitar lives in his mom's basement and couldn't get laid. Evidently, I hit a nerve with one of the popular posters. Like I said, Fuck them:pee

Oh, didn't see that thread until you mentioned it... Kinda hard rules (and not sure my post actually breaks them) but I can get why that was necessary 👍🏻

I didn’t think your post necessarily crossed any lines, but the mods have complained about getting a lot of complaints, so I thought someone might hit report, annoy our mods, and get you in trouble. I figured a friendly warning would produce a better outcome.

What are people hoping for in the initial Agoura amp lineup?

I'd really love a great AC30
This. As long as I have a fantastic AC30 and a fantastic 2203, my bases are covered for 99% of my live playing.

This new "modern" AC30 is an unknown to me, however. Is it the CC (Custom Classic) as the screen shot suggests? That's an odd choice if so.

@Digital Igloo I know it's an older product, but are there plans to have the DT50 amp linked with the Stadium like the OG Helix? I saw it mentioned that Powercab will have this but have not seen anything about the DT50.

I imagine Showcase is going to see more use in practice/ rehearsal situations than in live performances. E.g. drummer can't make it? Hello, Showcase.

Fortunately, it already exists!!

You don't like the latest Helix 2203?
