I think the HX drives are among the better modeled drives but always felt something missing...like they're there in character but missing in fidelity and depth.

But then I wonder if I'm just imagining because whenever I see these comparison videos - they sound very similar (just talking about ODs here...the rest of the pedals like uvibe etc. are modeled fine)

I think I made the right decision. Looks light and compact!

Also, his comments are encouraging -

"I unboxed the Stadium XL. This thing is absolutely beautiful! Coming from an LT this is a big step up in fit and finish.

I am currently playing it and here is what I have found:

- The sound quality is amazing. You need to experience this. I think you would have to really be a purist to spot the difference between this and an amp in the room. IMO this is as good as an amp in the room.

-The sound isn't just heard it is felt. My LT has been amazing, but compared the Stadium XL it doesn't compete. It is amazing for what it is, but the response and articulate tones of the Stadium XL are next level.

-The touch screen and UI is super easy to use and they did not cheap out when using the panel. This is some grade A tech!

Just kidding...he looks very happy. Good for him! That is a nice toy indeed.

I think the HX drives are generally excellent, and I can usually match them basically exactly with their real world counterparts when A/Bing, but I feel like I always end up over-gaining them when using them without referencing the real thing. Probably just an interface thing, but I have to actively tell myself to turn the drive down and the volume up, which is not a problem I have with physical pedals.

imo gain staging in general is the #1 problem with getting things to sound like "the real thing"; it's way too easy to level things in a way you wouldn't with physical pedals and amps, especially when using IRs etc. Same issue with a lot of studio gear models in plugin world too.

My take right now is that it’s a dynamics/punch thing more than the tone being way off. I think that stuff doesn’t show up so much in shootouts or blind tests, but you feel it when you play. Some models are better than others.

Is it just the angle or do those footswitches look closer together compared to the current hardware? I’m thinking it’s the angle.

I think I remember reading that they are ever so slightly closer together than OG Helix.

Someone was asking him in the comments how it was reaching the second row of footswitches and such and he said even with his size 12 foot - he had no problems with any of them.
