KDH Putting in work (Victory Amps ownership)

OMG, a store that is in the business of selling stuff is making videos on the internet aimed at...selling stuff.

I don’t care enough for it to move me one way or the other, but it’s interesting nonetheless given how much Lee and Martin have dodged admitting he is an owner in the company.

Also kinda interesting seeing GearTube becoming the primary driver of the gear economy, both visibly and invisibly.

Sort of interesting, but... my guess is that Lee Anderton probably pitched in what was to him an insignificant amount of money to Victory and gets an insignificant amount in return. He probably doesn't even think about his ownership, he's got much bigger things going on. I dunno, smells like goodwill toward an industry friend rather than some shillery. The issue is that it does seem to break UK standards, so... that's not good.

This is the big point of KDH's video.
Undisclosed shilling is illegal in the UK and in Andertons case it's even a bigger problem, he intentionally avoids disclosing his co-ownership for 10+ years of advertising his amps on his channel which is one of the biggest gear advertising channels on youtube.

I don't really really care, but as Whizzinby said, it is very interesting to see how youtube became the main advertising center for the music industry.
edit: ... and how everyone is abusing this, lawfully or not.

I see both your points. I watched yesterday and was like "who cares? I know Andertons is a shill ridden turd fest and watch their "demo" videos accordingly". But still; slimy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯:poop:

The shill-tard life cycle:

Lee owns Victory, Lee employs Rabea on channel, Lee gives Rabea a signature Victory amp, Neural produces Rabea plug-in including signature amp, Lee employs Digital John, Digital John produces update videos for Neural, Neural releases Kraken on Quad Cortex, Lee sells Quad Cortex.

There is no meaning, just stretching the humor opportunity. :ROFLMAO:

He should do one on Youtube's/Google's practices...

I watched it yesterday, and I'm in the I dont really care crowd, TBH. If I spend $1,000-$2,000 on a tube amp, it's not going to be a Victory. IMO, much better options out there in that price range for my use.

I just find it slimy that they did not come right out and say on the first YT video, "On Anderton's today, we take a look at a new amp line that we are part owners of..." and that kind of sucks.

Sometimes I do; sometimes I don't. He is always digging for mysteries that I tend to not give an f about the answer to.

I'll admit I've not seen a lot of his videos. That aside the ones I have seen all involve him trying to 'expose' people and digging up controversy for likes and views. I just think he's lazy and promoting a channel that doesn't really have anything beneficial to offer. It mostly seems to be negativity and there's enough of that in the world. I watch gear demos to see shiny guitars/amps/pedals and hear some cool sounds. I don't really give a shit that they're trying to sell me stuff tbh.

Agreed, not a big fan of "exposure" videos.

I'll be honest, I don't really care if Andertons owns Victory or not, and I really haven't seen them do much "shady schilling" for the brand. For as big as they are, I really don't see much of any kind of shady activity out of Andertons.

The one big association they had was with Chapman guitars and they disclosed the hell out of that relationship, and while they certainly used the guitars, never made them out to be anything other than what they were, and didn't exclusively push the brand.

I haven't seen any similar kind of activity from them and Victory either.

Non issue, IMO.
