Yes. But also no. Gear used to CREATE original compositions is more important than gear used to be a live-action jukebox. No telling WHAT the tools may be, but one of those is definitely more important than the other.

Freddie Freeloader is a straight up 12 bar blues, and All Blues is a 12 bar blues with a twist. Definitely a lot of modal jazz on the album, but there is blues in there as well.

My point was just that the idea that no new blues song has been written in the last 70 years is ridiculous

As long as everything is labeled with either “originals” or “covers”, and don’t mix items with different stickers in one rig, you should be fine!

But yes All Blues kills, as does that whole album.

The twist if you will is that the expected Ⅳ chord is minor or actual C7 against the bassline in G making it a G-6 , plus it has a minor Blues turnaround of sorts.
