Original post trimmed up for brevity. Found a rev G in good shape…and I bit. A friend grabbed it for me and is shipping it next week.

Buckle up.

The Recto has arrived safely!

I only had enough time to verify the channels & modes are working. Its needs 1 new rubber foot, has a couple slightly scratchy pots, and is loaded with old Mesa STR-430 power tubes.

The amp itself is quiet, punchy, and sounds like I remember, albeit gainier than I remember.

I may opt to get this in for service and fresh tubes in the next couple months just to be safe. Can’t wait to get some more time with it.

Congrats! There’s a killer Mesa repair guy in Shoreview if you don’t already have an amp dude.

siiiiiiiiiiicccckkkkkk!

I think I’m going to chase down a quartet of El-34s. Don’t really want to pay the Mesa premium. Where are you guys getting power tubes pre-rated for Mesa amps these days?

Doesn't Sweetwater sell them? I don't think they are cheaper than direct, though? :idk

I believe places like the Tube Depot, Eurotubes, and Doug's all sell Mesa-centric sets,
but they are not graded like Mesa does.

$100 a pair seems like the going rate. :brick

For anyone who might stumble into this later - I ended up going with a matched quartet of JJ EL34 and was able to specify through their ordering process that the tubes were for a Mesa Dual Rec. I provided my preferred color band (yellow to green) though I'm not certain they can get that close. $115 shipped in the US.

Eurotubes??? :idk

I ended up not liking the E34Ls much in an amp I put them in..... but they could be a great fit for the DR!

Hope ya dig them! :beer
