It’s happening - Mesa Rev G incoming.

I actually mistyped - went with the standard JJ EL-34. I use them in my 1959 and 2204 and they sound great.

I did consider the E34L but the last thing a recto needs is more low end and low mids. I’m down with the traditional EL34 vibe.

Also, Eurotubes service was great. They sent me a lengthy email explaining their ranges and noted that the set they are sending will be able to handle the bold/ss rectifier plate voltages…which is great because I dig that vibe.

Finally had an hour or two with the new Rev G. I’m over the moon with this thing, seems to have the magic.

I tend to run my Rectifiers cleaner and brighter than I’m used to seeing, but I love the rip and aggression that comes along with those settings. I tried to capture some of what was happening in the room.

Please excuse my sloppy playing.

Started playing the clip and immediately stopped it to wipe a tear from my eye. Aenima riff got me all like...

Original post trimmed up for brevity. Found a rev G in good shape…and I bit. A friend grabbed it for me and is shipping it next week.

Buckle up.
BTW, what is a good price on DR's these days? They seem to be all over the place around FL.

Depends on the version.

The older 3 channel gets some hate so probably $1100-$1300. The MW go for about $1600-$2000.

Other versions are going to be $1800+

I’ve seen a couple rev G rectos fall into the $1200 range within the past month. That still feels a little inflated to me in comparison with pre-Covid prices which were often ~ $1000, but I’m not sure we will ever see those prices again…and IMO a decent 2 channel dual rectifier is easily worth $1200. IMO these are going to eventually be up there with the C+ albeit with more in circulation.
