I have a couple guitar cabs that have cheap thin wire in them, and I'd like to re-wire them. What gauge should I use. I am guessing 12 but I dunno. I want heavy duty wire but not anything too thick.

16 is a good all-around gauge, unless you’re dealing with long cables (over 20 or 25 feet), at which point you would want to step up to a larger gauge. For really short runs, such as inside of cabinets, it Is actually safe to run slightly smaller gauges.

Thank folks! 16 it is.
