IK TONEX CAB

So from what I gather folks still go for the Fender due to the ToneX cab having some A/D conversion even though its about 1ms of latency
whereas none of that in the Fender FR

My take

I do like the look of the ToneX cab better with swappable grills (mind you at a cost) and Profile is slightly smaller
I think the Mic/live Eq thing may be more useful that the High cut on the Fender
Amp does not have any Hiss issues and does not require a new preamp
Tweeter seems to be of better Quality (La Voce) Fender does not state what brand is the tweeter could bea cheap of the shelf Amazon horn loaded tweeter (who Knows?)

Dont think the IR loading and presets is of any value but maybe for some
Paying more for these features is also somewhat Meh but Input LED are somewhat useful
up here in QC ToneX cab $1,156 Taxes included so thats quite steep for a pair Fender is $975.00 CDN Taxes in
They dont offer a 10" version

:guiness
IF I get to hear one in person, AND it blows my sack back, then sure I guess it’s worth the extra money. But otherwise, I don’t see the sense in taking the risk.

There is that factor for sure
but up here in QC i doubt ill ever get to Demo one

But maybe if sold on amazon i could try it since its returnable and i do see they do sell the Tonex

The hi cut on the Fender is, IMHO, part of the secret sauce in these cabs. I do hate the look of them, though. They could have aped any era, but they chose to make the damn things look like fucking Blues Juniors. I have actually entertained the thought of building new cabs for mine out of walnut, with a wicker/cane grill (Boogie style).

So im Wondering this Cab has a preorder special price $100.00 off, Wondering how may will buy it when its a regular price or will it come back down to $699 USD once its been out for a few weeks
Up here in QC it $999.00 With no mention of a pre order introduction price which id assume would be $899.00
@$899.00 that would be pretty Ideal not @ $999.00 plus tax here in QC that makes it $1,157.00 Taxes included
So thats quite steep for a pair I might Bite @ $1,000.00 each taxes included but not $300.00 more
Guess ill wait and see

Just my humble opinion here…but I’d say it’s highly unlikely that there will be a price reduction. As you’ve stated…it’s showing as $999 plus tax at Long & McQuade and I expect that this will be the price…period.

Speculation on my part…. But I’m willing to guess that the pre-order discount is specific to online orders and sales directly via IK Multimedia.

It is.

For comparison, it's 799 € at Thomann including the hideously high 25.5% Finnish VAT.
Fender FR-12 is 566 € so I don't see a whole lot of reason to buy the IK.

The ToneX Cab is also smaller, louder and has a (by all accounts) better build quality than the Fender. Still overpriced IMHO, but it does have more going for it.

I have a FR-12 which i really like, but i had to hack into it to fix hiss, as it was unbearable at low volumes, and i never liked how Fender markets these amps as "1000 watts" - which is an outright lie. Had the ToneX Cab been around back when i bought my FR-12, i'd seriously considered it as an alternative.

Is the Fender still a Roll of the Dice for the Hiss or have they all been addressed ?

They say it's been fixed for good, but i've read reports from people ordering straight from Fender and still getting hissy units. The FR-10/12 are otherwise fine, but i'd say buy somewhere with a good return policy just in case.

I tried the 12" Celestion and thought it sounded terrible - just like other FRFRs. This one may be different with the 'amp' knob.

TONEX Cab pre-order price is available to dealers, note that Sweetwater and Guitar Center both offer it for 699.99. The 599.99 pricing for those who own TONEX Pedal or TONEX ONE is exclusively direct from IK though. Hope that helps.
Thanks for all of your insights @IK Multimedia . Just so there is no confusion (at least for me), lol...one of your Canadian retailers - Long & McQuade - has the TONEX cab available for pre-order purchase for $999.00 CAD. Is this then the pre-order "discount" amount....and we should then all assume that the posted cost will go up upon release? ...or... is Long & McQuade unaware of...or not presenting a pre-order discount? Is $999 the pre-order discount...or have they "chosen" not to extend a pre-order discount? These are all pretty critical factors for your potential customers...and I would be very grateful if you can share insights on this Peter. Thanks kindly in advance!
