IK Multimedia TONEX

YES!! But seriously, tell me how to get my packs in there, bruv.

As far as I know, the POS iOS version can only load captures from Tone.net. So if you bought and downloaded them or made them yourself, you can't get them on to iOS unless you put them up on Tone.net first, which you probably should not do with a purchased capture, although I don't know if you could do it with private settings or put them up there and then quickly delete once on your iPad.

I tend to steer away from that part of the "IK Experience" and my advice would be to use a Tonex One for your practice needs and skip the whole iOS version until it gets a MAJOR makeover.

Am I an idiot, or can I not get my purchased packs downloaded to the iPadOS version?

Me neither. Only on MacOS and the pedals (Tonex pedal and Tonex One). But I do believe @BenIfin will be able to rant a bit.

(I think I have read about lots of issues with getting packs to work with the - almost abandoned - iOS version of Tonex, especially third party packs bought outside of IKs system / tone.net.)

I'll keep this rant-free.

When running Tonex iOS the only way to get Captures / Packs you have bought outside of Tonenet [ or made yourself ] is to load them up into your Tonenet Account and then download them to your iPad - and then delete them from Tonenet.

I will add that this can be very hit and miss - I have found that with Amalgam Packs I bought direct / not from the Amalgam Tonenet Store - that some Captures will load up and some just wont ..... it very hit and miss.

The Tonex iOS App is now very old and still running the very old/original design and framework.

Do IK have any intention of upgrading it (?) or allowing you to upload any captures directly (?) .... I have zero idea.

Ironically, none of this is an issue when using the Tonex software or Pedals on PC / MAC - load up anything from anywhere - no issues.

I can only surmise that IK wont allow you to upload / download anything other than from Tonenet, so that IK keeps making their $$ cut from Tonenet sales.

If you check the IK forums, and here and TGP, these simple requests have been made numerous times since Day 1 and nothing has ever been done.

The whole Tonex iOS App situation is very not good. At this point in time, it very much appears to have been totally abandoned by IK.

Equally, also requested since Day 1, was a Lo/Hi Cut EQ to the Cab-IR block - an ultra basic "meat and potato's feature" ..... 3+ years since the release of the Tonex Software and its still not in there.

I would be surprised if there were even a dozen people using the iOS app these days. It's not big enough to make any difference to their revenue. I think the issue is that it is old code and they simply haven't spent any resources updating or fixing it.

Yeah, I've got my personally done captures, as well as my friend's that he uploaded to Tone.net. But it's extremely disappointing that I can't get all the paid packs to show up.

^ And to make it worse, IK by their actions clearly don't care either and have zero intention of rectifying this stupid anomaly between the PC/MAC side and the iOS side .... 2 Years and 11 months and counting and still no action.

To protect my mental health, I'm just pretending the iOS version of Tonex doesn't exist — quite successfully so far, since I've never installed it on any of my iOS devices.

Dude, there’s just so much potential for a great purse rig. Logic on iPadOS is actually a lot of fun to use.

I agree about the potential. I'm still leaning towards ignoring the iOS version of Tonex. But I have bought Gigfast Lite and NAM XT and will perhaps use a Tonex One pedal as an interface with my iPhone.

So, there's the Pirate MIDI devices allowing you to control a Tonex One via MIDI - does anyone know whether it'd somehow be possible to control two pedals from one device as well? Or is there anything else allowing for that?

It could be an Apple issue. I'm android 100% but I thought they usually don't allow any kind of paid stuff going through their system unless they are getting a piece of the action. Like modern day mafia shit always wanting a taste, lol...

Talk about getting blue balled. I finally got a group of direct captures of my Dual Rectifier that I’m not totally embarrassed to share and my tonenet account is hosed. I can’t upload anything to tonenet.

Opened a ticket with support, hoping for the best.

The batch processing is honestly so helpful. I made about 2 dozen caps over the weekend and it really helps take some of the pain out of it.

Anyone has issues with the Tonex app recently ? Since a couple days, the standalone version is frustratingly unresponsive, any action like selecting another presets or turning a button on the tonestack takes 10 seconds. And when I load Tonex as a VST in my DAW, it simply freezes. I uninstalled/reinstalled it (Win 10 machine here) but no improvement. I contacted support too...

Both working as usual for me. Did you perform the latest update?

Same. It seems since v1.10.4 if I
click anything like a search field or a dropdown it takes 5 seconds.
I also lost my signature packs once but closing and reopening fixed that

I haven't been able to update to 10.1.4 yet as it's always downloading at about 7kbps in the product manager 😂
My download once just sat there when the disk was full. No alarm, just sat there. Forever.
Looked around and saw the disk had 0 bytes free. I killed the app, made room, deleted the part "tmp" file and restarted the update.

Edit
Just downgraded to 1.10.3, search still seems slow.

I have to give IK credit, though I’ve yet to play through the thing, the Tonex One is a VERY robust feeling piece of hardware. These LEDs are also damn near blinding. Can’t imagine losing sight of these on stage.

Bought the Tonex for the group buy and I'm impressed. To me it's the most in the room sound and feel I've found. I'm loving it, even to the point I think I'm going to sell my FM9. Not because the FM9 isn't good but it's way more than I need. I prefer an amp + pedal setup and the Tonex fits that perfectly.

Sure, the software could be improved but I intend to find a few core amps and call it a day. I don't think I'll be in the software often. Overall I'm very happy with it.
