The refinement is so hit and miss, and often just gives a different flavour of “wrong”. Other platforms get much closer without needing a refinining stage.Also keep in mind, for Kemper there is a refinement process that takes manual intervention by the one doing the profile, and not sure how much time Michael spent for that. On top of that, there is the liquid profile option on Kemper, and IMO the LPs do have an edge when tweaking a little.
What’s worse is the deep parameters that Kemper offers - adjusting those usually leads to very odd and un-realistic tones. Liquid profiling was enough for me to lose faith in Kemper all together, it does not sound good.
I think Michael has been making kemper profiles long enough to know what he’s doing, and it’s in his interest to make them as good as he can. He can’t really do anything about a Kemper showing its age.
