IK Multimedia Group Buy 2025

Well I caved and bought a tonex one to go with my OG pedal. Turned up today and I was genuinely surprised how small it is 🤣

The pre loaded Supper Reverb in slot A is really good to be fair. Just got to decide what to get from the software now. Already have Tonex Max from the OG pedal and the boutique overdrives and ODS collections.

Open to any suggestions. I occasionally use a DAW so would want of the piano or modo drums be of use?
I tried to intercept that so I could pre-load Black Angus in Slot A but I was too slow :)

For suggestions, personally I don't play like EVH but the Brown Sound collections have some really great sounds that I enjoy. Pianoverse pianos sound great, be aware they are very large libraries though. MODO BASS is physically modeled and sounds really good even if you only use it for scratch/guide tracks but I know people from my Berklee days working professionally and licensing music using MODO BASS when they have to hammer out parts in a short time without time or budget to hire. I do like MODO DRUM but note it is a bit larger in size due to the cymbals being sampled.

How's the Engl? What's your angle on the Engl? :D
I just got the packs installed last night but haven’t had an opportunity to check them out. I’m looking forward to it though.

Some of the Engl caps in Tonex Max are primary tones for our other guitarist in our direct rigs and they sound/feel great. Many of the caps are more “rocky” than I expected from a brand I associate primarily with heavy tones. I’m not sure if this Engl collection will resemble that or not.

Screw it, why not? I got the Engl, and the other two Brown Sounds.

So tell me, @paisleywookiee, how are the Engl caps??

Ok so can confirm the first two EVH packs and the Mesa reference pack are standouts. The ENGL feels like they fucked up the levels going into the amps. Everything feels way undergained to me played from the Tonex hardware with neutral input trim. Popping up the gain to offset helps a bit but I wasn’t finding much there.

The Mesa pack has easily the top 5 rectifier caps I’ve played, and a boatload of other really interesting mid gain and EOB tones. Really good stuff.

I believe you would be limited to adding capture packs priced at a maximum of $49 a piece, in that case. That is, the initial purchase sets the limit.

So I could buy say the Metal Gems for $49 and pick another 14 capture packs?
You would only be able to choose products worth 49.99 or less. So you'd want to buy a 99.99 Signature Collection if you wanted the option to pick up all the rest. Sounds like MESA, Brown Sound, and Satriani are the standouts for others and I tend to agree. I like the "not for EVH" sentiment from @Richard_G as I'm in the same boat and I think the Satriani pack is great because it isn't a discography type of pack it is some choice amps from his vault so there are some that are very "out of character" for him and it is great. For the MESA, Doug did a great job with some great reference amps so they feel really good too. Even the Rectumfriers and I'm not usually as into those.

Own them all. My Top 3 are top2bottom
BS 1
Engl (fireball with good raw gain-grain and also invader. Straight is less thick and more dry)
bS2

BS3 to me is slighrly darker/less raw and #4 with Mesa

The others in my setup (Apollo AI) are either slightly to dull or feel a little non-direct … or just not my choice of pickle

IK is a strange company… I really like some of their products, but too often I still end up annoyed or even downright angry with them.
The fact that you can absolutely count on them ignoring things that matter to you more consistently and more silently than anyone else I can think of gives every little annoyance the potential to grow into anger.

So far I've used two of my free options. Picked up the Satriani pack, I'm a mainly clean to eob player but some of the cleans in this are great. Really like the DR .
Also picked up brown 78/79 and they're a lot of fun too. Will likely pick up some more later today but right now it's pub time, then home to cook duck risotto.

Can't believe how small and good the tonex one is though, can definitely see me doing some of my acoustic and occasional electric solo gigs with it.
