Picked up the Tonex One and currently redeeming stuff.

The "upgrade" versions seem to upgrade whatever version you have, so the Tonex SE included with the Tonex One became the regular Tonex for me.

The implementation of the group buy redeem system is pretty painful. It's like nobody even considered "Hey, what if we get a shitload of group buys and people have to redeem 50 products?"

My approach is to open the redeem sites in separate tabs, where it will always first through some ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED issue until it loads the site. IK, something is seriously wrong with the way your website is setup for it to have this big routing problems for literally every page, including product pages.

Our IT team is looking into an issue that is unrelated to load but is related to a possible issue with our provider (architecture, DNS, routing, etc all being looked into right now to see what is causing issues even when the site is not under load).

Also upgrade is only a pricing indication. TONEX Upgrade means the standard mid-tier TONEX product, it won't upgrade that to MAX or specifically SE to TONEX. Your SE version is a qualifier for that upgrade-priced version, but it is just that - a qualifier. To upgrade to TONEX (I called it "TONEX standard" personally, to avoid confusion and have pointed out we could do similar publicly) you can have any of the following for example:

I sincerely think this group buy may have been one of the best cost/value propositions I’ve experienced ever. An incredible piece of hardware (TXO) and like 50 very high quality plugins for $150 is laughably outrageous.

I’ve pretty much run out of stuff I want from them, though I wish Amplitube 5 Max was in there.

Well damn you guys got me - I have a ToneX one incoming.

I was an early adopter of the first pedal 3 years ago - ultimately sold it as I had my Axe-Fx III at the time - though it was clear capture tech and entry price was forever changed since I did that first "chug palm mute" with some of the ToneX captures and went "oh yeah this took Fractal quite a bit of time to get right and now neural nets are doing it just fine"

This is an incredible value, but as weird as it may sound, I'll skip it because there is nothing there that I need. And I don't want to install things that I'll never use anyway.

Not at all. I’m right with you - the deal is incredible, BUT I don’t think I would end up using any of this stuff in any meaningful way myself. I have the big ToneX pedal that is collecting dust. Not because it’s bad - to the contrary, but I just don’t have the time to really dig into it. When I play, I pretty much want to just plug into an amp and turn it on.

These days, I try to avoid great deals for the sake of a great deal as opposed to a great deal that I will actually take advantage of - and this applies to everything, not just hobby-related.






The M2M 335 at nearly half price at my local GC that I am drooling over is excluded from the above comments.

Understand, though IMO this is something different and the value of captures and T Racks is one that would be a missed opportunity.

Possibly a silly question but….

Amplitube 5 is showing as as $299 if you buy it from IK website and in theory that would mean you can get all the software freebies up to $299. But in the T&C it’s saying that Amplitube 5 isn’t a qualifying product so you couldn’t use it to get the rest of the deal?

I am guessing that is because Amplitube 5 is available from one of the online places in the U.K. for £29 right now? Just trying to get my head around this.

Edit: Damn. Something's wrong. With 40 products left to pick, when I select something and hit the confirm button, it just goes back to the userarea page without giving me a serial number. Afterwards, the tier is still shows as available on the promotions page. I tried a few times, but don't want to risk making it even worse. What the heck? @IK Multimedia , who should I contact?

All my S/N went to my email. I don't think it takes away the option for you to pick multiple of the same software so it will always show available?

Nah. The already picked items were grayed out in the drop down. The first nine picks went to a page which showed the serial number, and then the tier was marked as redeemed. The email showed up a few seconds later. None of that that is happening. It just goes back to the userarea page.

Fwiw, by now I've managed to download all Sampletank Max Factory, bonus libraries and Syntronik stuff coming with Studio Max 4.
There's some pretty good stuff in there. I mean, like "today's production level" good.
Especially some Syntronik stuff is done pretty well, especially as the patches feature some FX out of the TRacks series - and you can control their parameters within the patch, using, say, your ModWheel. That's quite nice.

But then there's always the moment when you run into, well, "things".

@IK Multimedia, please take some notes.

The entire modulation architecture would need an urgent overhaul. It's not only that it's an epic visual fail as in Sampletank (see the screenshot I've posted), no, the entire naming is just confusing. Heck, when I want to modulate a filter's cutoff, I want to see "filter cutoff" showing up as a modulation target and not "parameter 1". And in case any of the filter types has no traditional cutoff parameter, I would want the name of the parameter used instead to show up.
Also, pretty much all modern softsynths allow for drag'n'drop modulations. You drag a source to a target and then finetune the amount in a matrix or via some clever dual function parameter knob - or whatever.

Then, there's not even independent pitch bending values for up and down. That's so last-century-ish, really. For basses, +2/-12 is just excellent. Not possible with Sampletank or Syntronik. Well, perhaps it's possible through the modulation matrix, but as that's such a miserable affair in itself, I rather don't go there.

Also, the signal flow in Sampletank is completely unclear to me. I tried to turn a string patch into a nice pad with modulating filter cutoff and didn't even manage to make the filter work at all. Absolutely no idea why it's not just working by default. Or by using a clearly labeled on/off switch. I'm sure there's some trickery I'm missing - but there should be no trickery involved at all, this should be the most straight forward thing ever. Which it actually is in almost all other things I'm using. And fwiw, I'm not even remotely a newbie when it comes to all that stuff, in fact it's far from it.

I could possibly create an endless list of things that could easily be improved. And I would, in case you folks were interested. Just drop me a line if you want (I've got years of testing experience on my belt).

Seems IK's DNS routing is somehow messsed up. If I change my DNS server to 1.1.1.1 using a Wireguard config, then IK's website works again.

I was able to redeem a lot more stuff. Still have a lot of options to choose from.
