I was wrong about the QC

We can dream of a day where we have the depth and quality of sounds from Fractal in a box like the QC. 100% (y)

I’m interested to see which will get there faster, and honesty I’m not convinced it will be Fractal. (Which is why I still remain cautiously optimistic in the QC. It’s a very good box as-is, but it still has a lot of potential without requiring new hardware. The groundwork is there)

Agreed, with all due respect to Cliff, I think the Fractal stuff works really well for how he intends it to work, and that works well for professionals at the highest level. I don't think it's intended for Joe Schmo who walks in off the street to a Guitar Center and wants to play with a newfangled digital guitar box.

Best form factor? It doesn’t even have an expression pedal. Best form factor for a floor modeler you intend to keep on your desk, maybe. Can it do the thing where the XLR outs are at a fixed level but the 1/4” outs are controlled by the volume knob? That is the most important feature.

Not everyone thinks of corporations as if they were people, either, though (this seems like a genz/millenial thing); so for some folks I think it is just "Is this a good product for what I'm trying to do? yes|no"...
I'm kind of middle of the road on this one. If I thought NDSP were indeed clubbing seals, or had kids working in sweatshops, I almost certainly would have foregone purchase of a QC. (I'll admit I hesitated to order from Sweetwater for political reasons I'll leave be... and I'll admit I caved because they were the only game in town.) And for what it's worth, I think some of what @Mongillo19 describes are legitimately serious offenses.

On the other hand, I bought the QC after all of the BS had come to light, after anyone with access to a web browser could know exactly what the unit did and did not actually do, and with full assurances from the vendor that I didn't have to keep it if I didn't want to. At that point, the QC became a very finite proposition: a 3"x8"x6" or whatever box that performs a specific set of functions - extremely well. I couldn't care less that Doug Castro acts like a dork on Instagram (except to the extent that we can make each other laugh about it), or that he lets his marketing department jump the gun over and over and over and over again. The little box on my desk remains unchanged (and very, very occasionally gets a bit better, even.)

Counterpoint, I like to use expression pedals with my left foot, so all the devices with expressions on the right are backwards to me. I much prefer separate expressions.

Yes it can do what you asked, there's a master volume that can be assigned to XLR outs, 1/4 outs, sends, and/or headphones.

Oh you bring up a good point though, I don't think there's line vs instrument output level switching in the QC. So when I run line into my MOTU interface, the levels are always low. I can raise the output level, but then it goes into the red. Doesn't sound bad but I feel like I shouldn't do that. And the line in on my MOTU doesn't have a level adjustment, so it's just stuck being low output. That's a really weird oversight.

Yeah, again I'm not holding my breath for either, but I feel like it would be easier for NDSP to close the gap with a bunch of new amp and effects blocks than it would be for FAS to redesign their hardware and OS to achieve parity in terms of UI/UX.

Start a funny thread, they said
Anything QC related normally doesn't end in any humorous fashion outside of "what ails these people"

I hope nobody gets offended by my arguments. I truly just enjoy discussing and going back and forth in a constructive discussion/debate. I'm sure it can get annoying but at least it's better than no discussion or thought.....I think?

The OP ain't all that. ;)

Still love ya though. :D
Is it not, though?

ALL spring reverb sucks, unless it's inside a Fender tube combo.
Almost got into these same weeds. I'd say the Tone Master Pro might be an exception. And from what I hear, FM9 and AxeFX3? Posssibly, Kemper, but I haven't heard the more recent firmware. Everything else in the MFX world - including FM3, HX Hot Springs... pfft. They're decent modulated verbs but they don't sound like springs.

I would call this a contradiction in terms, but semantics aside, I'd agree it's the best form factor to keep on your desk. Which is exactly what I use it for.

Repeat chorus: Buy what suits your needs.

Yes. Huzzah.
