I was wrong about the QC

Maybe they’ve put one out since, but Henning Pauly’s video on it was pretty fucking hilarious because he shit all over TC the entire time, despite being one of the guys TC consulted on the pedal before release. :rofl
I need to watch that. I love it when that guy's pissed.

It funny I am watching some vids and some of their models
Sound very good ,like matching closely to the Fractal in the shootout but some just sound like canned ass , that was my experience 3 years ago to , like I don’t know whose dual recto they modelled but it about on par with Helix or slightly worse
The 6505 crunch channel is another horrible choice
Freidman HBE , 2203 and EVH gold red all stack up decently , but there are some dogs for sure

Yeah the models are hit or miss. I feel like the newer ones have gotten consistently better.

Honestly… I can’t get past the harsh high end on most models, especially on high gain amps. 80s DI-style cleans sound awesome but getting warm, tube-like cleans or edge or breakup (think Boomer, not Zoomer edge of breakup) need a lot of tweaking.

This thing is a modern (math rock?) guitarist’s dream device. Does all the Djent stuff really well. I am not that person. AT ALL. I still haven’t found a better tone than the L6 Dripman+ODR from latest firmware update, let alone Fractal Dumble or edge of breakup tones.

I’ll try captures next as well as different IRs but not going well so far. Still think Tonocracy + Valhalla on my MBP kills it for studio / computer desk use.

Sigh.

Yep the high end is not smooth
Its closer to a Helix than a Fractal
One thing and a target area where most people hear it is the 6000 - 6500 hz region so maybe try put a parametric and cut some of that out .
But I hear you the models are pretty tight with a lot of attack in the lows like the Djent guys would want
For cleans I have heard the Morgan and Matchless sound good for EOB
Also check out Studio Rats his captures are incredible

Thanks! Using graphic EQ for anything over 8-9K makes the tone dull (for me) and requires that I readjust the preset to make up for it. Will try this targeted approach instead and yes, will check out those captures.

Weird. I compared the Dual Recs between QC and FM3, and I could barely tell them apart.

I'll turn in my badge and gun at the end of the day...

Also not my experience. :idk

Man, I must be doing something wrong then. The 5150 is killer, but even the HBE is not doing it for me. I have yet to start swapping out cabs / IRs though so we’ll see.

In a weird way… it kinda reminds me of the Fractal AX8. The tones are sort of similar in that they are studio / mix ready but a bit harsh. Things is, though, the CCV on the FM3 is a high gain amp but never sounded harsh. YMMV I guess
