I have to brag for a sec

Gotcha. Good info. I think the good sounding analog direct options have a warmth to the mids and a nice roll off to the highs that no digital IR does. Whether someone likes that or not is a different matter.

Yeah, comparing the Mic No Mo to an IR I would agree with that tonal assessment

running out from the Suhr RL into the Stomp or fm3 and run some effects post.

I ran like this for a while. I was using a few pedals upfront into a modded tweed Bassman with an 8 ohm OT tap into a Suhr RL into delay reverb and volume pedals, then in to a stereo power amp with each side powering half of the 4x10. It worked really well but there were a lot of pieces and cables.

After a quick hunt around for one 😳
It looks like they are out of stock in the UK even direct.😡
So they have obviously been selling well 👌

Thomann have some for £333.00 👍🍺

I had to wait a bit for a restock when I got mine. Seems like they’ve been selling out batches fairly quickly. It has some nice features and it’s way easier to power than the other ones, so I can see why it would be popular

IMHO it is the best attenuator around at any price. I have built two so far, 2 and 8 ohm, but planning to build a 4 and a 16 to round out the set. I believe the 2 ohm version is a large part of why my wife has tolerated a Super Reverb as my family room amp!
I have been wanting to build one as well, preferably the 8 Ohm. Any chance you can put a parts list together in the Do-It-Yourself when you order what you need?

I have tried to get a parts list off the John H thread at Marshall Forum, but there are so many different ideas, models etc in that 200+ page thread.

Okay, back to our regularly scheduled program...

It’s not going to be this weekend but I should be able to put a component list together. Finding the best places to order is another issue. When I ordered parts for the first two, there were a lot of things out of stock in different places so I ended up ordering from multiple vendors which adds to shipping.

No worries! When you can get to it, it would be appreciated!!

Thank you

By chance, have you revisited this project? Here is the one I am thinking of building. Let me know if this is the same as what you are wanting to do and if you see anything missing or additional items needed.

Here is what I built. Basically I blended the M2 and M4 designs to get a simple attenuator that also had the -3.5 and -7 db options for the first stage. I did not include the ability to use cabs with different impedance, or the extra first stage inductor because I don't think it is necessary with the way the plugged in cab will add the low resonance peak and the way I and many of us roll off the lowest bass anyway.

After I did this, John updated numbers for 2-16 ohms based on component values he found more available at the time. I had a spreadsheet with what I ordered from where, but I can't find it. Not sure how useful it would be as it is now a couple years out of date.

Here is the full M4 design posted with John's latest component values. Most of the component differences are due to availability, not impact on results...

Edit to add, including the bass resonance piece also gets pricer and will take up a lot of space as the impedance goes down. Those are pretty big film caps and inductors for a 2 ohms based build but much more practical at 16 or 8.
