I have to brag for a sec

My rig is sounding so insanely good right now!!

I’m going into my 3rd weekend of this show and I can’t wait to play every night because it just sounds soooo good. This is the best tone I’ve had in ages and I’ve been getting lots of compliments from the other musicians.

Most importantly I don’t feel like I’m fighting it or hating gear like I have the past few years.

Using my black Strat with HS-3’s. Every pedal is doing exactly what I want and balancing together beautifully. The core tones with these drives are :chef . With my digital rigs I usually have to choose one modulation for a show; I love having access to analog flanger, chorus, phaser, and tremolo all together. It’s given me more ability to use the one that sounds best for each spot in the music. The true spring reverb and the SDE-3000D are amazing. I only wish I could have fit the Carbon Copy and DynaComp on the board for a few spots.

The JRT has such great clarity and that amazing midrange Fred’s amps all seem to have. Even the Mic No Mo seems to be doing better than I expected. And the Frommel JohnH attenuator is fantastic, I highly recommend it!

How are you routing your different instruments through this rig? Or is this a run where you only need traditional guitar?

Acoustics are going through the fm3, but there wasn’t room in front of me so it’s sitting under my chair and I have to reach down and hit the switches with my hand to change instruments. Which is a PITA

This is why I’m planning to sell the fm3 and get a Stomp again. The Stomp can handle all my routing and processing acoustics, fit on the pedalboard, and be powered by it.

Nice! Are you routing those tones through a wedge or...?

Nice Met! Glad you're enjoying yourself. A great feeling when it all comes together -- and hopefully it continues.
Guys can say what they want, but when a great tube amp and all the effects pedal goodies come together just right, nothing beats it in feel and response.

I spent years being a digital evangelist, and I don’t want to sound too harsh, but for me personally after years of perfecting my ultimate digital rig and then plugging into some pedals in front of an amp again felt exactly like this moment (if you’ve seen this episode):

^Is this from the Rob Lowe layer show that was on for like 2 seasons tops with Fred Savage and Stevie from Eastbound and Down? It was actually a surprisingly funny watch if so :D

I’m just going to have to try one of those Mic No Mo’s

Me too. He liked the analog cab out of the Synergy stuff too like I do as well so I just need to get one. Not sure why I haven’t all this time. Didn’t you try one of the Palmer units?
I did. It required an outboard mixer to get the levels correct, iirc; so I dumped it. King of caveats and all that :bonk:roflI like the analog cab out of the Blug stuff so I would assume it would be in that same ballpark?

Yeah I think he helped design the Red Box stuff. I still have an old one I need to drag out and get the MNM and do a taste test.

Ahhh gotcha. Ron Swanson looked like Stevie (Todd is the character iirc in the lawyer show) in that screenshot before. Never watched Parks and Rec. We sort of missed out on that whole wave of NBC comedy for no real reason?

When I’m listening critically at home I don’t think it’s quite as good as something like the Fractal cab block. But, it does sound good, it doesn’t need power, there’s no settings to remember, and it’s always consistent. I just keep it in the back of the cab and I’ve always got an easy consistent option to send to FOH.
So it more than makes up for any tonal differences for me to make it an excellent tool

Gotcha. Good info. I think the good sounding analog direct options have a warmth to the mids and a nice roll off to the highs that no digital IR does. Whether someone likes that or not is a different matter.
