Helix Talk

Using a cioks DC7 with the doubler and adaptor, although I've had this occur in the past with its stock PSU as well
Hmm yeah - it happening with stock PSU probably rules out any power spike related issue.

Did it happen across multiple firmware updates or did it only start happening on the latest? Either way probably worth at least trying a factory reset (back up your presets!) and see if the problem doesn’t recur. Intermittent stuff like this is frustrating!

I had weird issues with my CS6 powering the Stomp a few times. Whether I used a single tap (which technically was doable given how the CS stuff powers devices) or a doubler on two taps. Ugh.

My Stomp is always so useful. I might even get it serviced to keep up longevity. I really hope for another FW with a final release of goodies we've all been asking for before they close up shop.

My Helix Floor, I don't know what to do with. I know my way around the HX line so well that I can get or modify any tone I want in under a minute and I can do some really outlandish things on my Helix Floor so I don't want to let it go. It's also really big so I don't want to use it in 90% of situations. First world problems.

The right side joystick/encoder on my Helix Floor doesn't work when you turn (scroll) it, only when you joystick N/S/E/W, and it's in like, 7/10 condition, AND, I do like the additional DSP over my Stomp XL, so, I'm probably just keeping it.

I'm currently debating which one of those I'm going to bring to Key West with me, next week. I'm pretty sure I can fit the Floor in the car, but man, just bringing the XL would save so much room.

Curious if bad habits with power up/down might be related to my problem? I often just leave the stomp switch “on” and power down at the at the strip or an unplug. I’ve noted that occasionally when flipping on a power strip when HX is already on results in a freeze at 99% booted :idk

Hmm. I leave mine switched on at all times and flip on a power strip its plugged into whenever I use it, no problems. I remember reading a statement from Line 6 that it’s fine to do that and it makes no difference whether you use the power switch.

Any fans of the Ventoux? Awesome fat and warm cleans and has a great touch sensitive feel that’s hard to find in a lot of Helix Fender models.
Yeah, it was one of my staples for a good while. I've graduated to Stadium, and have been nerding out on some of the Agoura amps. In large measure, the Agoura Fenders, perhaps ironically, that to me have a great feel to them (I'd never completely bonded with the OG Fenders). I hadn't tried the Ventoux in Stadium yet, but one of these days I will. It would probably be a fun one to pair with one of the Agoura amps. But the Ventoux is a great little model on its own.

I gotten some amazing glassy cleans and mid-gain tones out of that model. The L6 originals introduced around the days of the Catalyst are very underrated, imho.

I missed the Ventoux until yesterday when I was reading about the L6 originals and the description of a boutique amp based on early Orange and Fender tweeds piqued my interest. Everyone talks about the Litigator, which I have tried to like but never really did it for me. The Ventoux gets closer to what I like about the GSG, but it’s way easier to dial in, and lower DSP.

The HX Stomp still sounds fantastic to me and the UI is like riding a bike after over a year of not turning it on, easy.
I did a quick comparison with the latest AxeFx firmware and the Helix amp sounds are holding their own superbly well, I wouldn't even call them last gen, they just sound great.

Though I really enjoy my Stadium XL I haven't sold my OG Floor yet which is still such a great piece of equipment. But maybe I should trade it for a stomp. A Stadium Stomp (AKA Helix Bedroom) would be an instabuy.

I’m in the same boat as you. I just had my floor up in the emporium, but took it down.

Just ordered the Stadium floor but I'm seriously considering keeping my Toneking/StompXL rig as a backup. I gigged it last night and it still sounds great.

I'm very curious to test the tone/feel of the Agoura fenders versus the OG. My goto for a while was the Deluxe normal because the deluxe vib and twin vib were way too bright and brittle. That said, the deluxe sounded good but felt flat and compressed versus a real fender amp.

My current fav OG fender is the Super Reverb Normal channel which I have used to clone the ToneKing Imperial preamp clean channel. The tone is nearly indistinguishable and the feel is very close - 90% there. Hoping the Agoura Super gets that last 10%

I've been shooting some OG Helix vs Agoura amp on my Stadium floor, and i totally get the "feeling" thing people bring up when comparing the two.

Sonically, the new models are not miles ahead of HX (which were very good to begin with), it's like like a slightly higher res version of the same thing. They do feel very different to play thou, and Agoura reacts much better to things like picking dynamics and volume changes.
