Helix Talk

Haven't heard any good word about the Headrush, so that must not be it XD

A friend got one because he liked the touchscreen and the realistic UI. He said it was the only thing he liked about it.

You can just say Quad Cortex, this is a safe space 🫂
tbh, that’s one of the reasons I kinda like the QC. I have different boxes when I want accuracy.

I think I view gear that I know / expect to be really accurate to their source material differently than gear that I expect to be different in some ways. I expect the QC is guilty of some of the tricks that I vaguely recall DI mentioning at TOP - hyping the low end, smoothing the highs, adding compression, etc.

But when I’m expecting the “poetic license,” I can turn my brain off a bit and just fucking chug without wondering how closely this matches a physical amp.

I think it’s just a niche manifestation of my OCD.

Mentioned this before, but we're not announcing any new Helix/HX firmware at the 10th Anniversary Party. Too soon, I'm afraid—the timing just didn't work out.

Just announce an old one to make them happy. “Oh, and one more thing before we close out our 10th anniversary celebration. I’m excited to announce firmware 2.6 with the long awaited Friedman BE 100.”

Oh man, that would break GuitarTube for, like, 12 seconds.
Think of the clickbaaaayyyyyttttttttttt!!!!

Helix was a weird one. The first discussions took place way back in 2008, two years before I joined. It was unceremoniously ditched when the economy took a dump. Design work ramped back up in early 2011. Active hardware development began in late 2011, for a planned release in the summer of 2014. The touchscreen and mobile editing were ditched in favor of cap switches and desktop editing around 2013, much to my chagrin. This and a whole lot of other drama resulted in pushing back the launch to June 11, 2015.

Products has designs that, if ever released, may not see the light of day for a decade or more. That doesn't mean we're slow; we just have way more ideas than we can actively develop. I guess that's better than Engineering tapping their feet, going "Okay, c'mon. What are we making next, guys?!"

Ok then. So ^this^ clearly means my hypothesis all along has been right. No Helix 2. Minimal / necessary future FW Upgrades only for the Helix family. Helix family remains a current-future product line.

There is a new next gen unit that will sit above the Helix range ... and its coming sooner than we think.

I knew I was right !!!!

I'm channeling the greatest living fraud of all time, Jordan Peterson - so I am "defining" that a new top tier product is my "foundational value" and as such, it is "god" ... and as "god" is always right, knows everything about everything past present and future, there is absolutely a new top tier modeler coming very soon.

Seriously - get with the program ! :)

PS:- On a serious note - regardless of whether or not you are or a not a believer - the shit I just wrote above isn't a joke or pisstake - it is actually his "explanation" when asked who/what is "god" - he/she/it is a "definition" .... thats not a tyop .... you cant make this shit up ..... and all because he wont admit he's actually a non-believer / atheist because then his $$ will dry up.
