Fwiw, why is the 1 Switch Looper just sooo bad? Doublepressing to stop it is the most hit&miss process I've ever stumbled across, very often it's just switching to overdub mode, then back to play mode until it finally accepts a doublepress. I guess it's related to the switches not being that exact anyway. It's just extremely tough to get loops perfectly in time (regardless of the looper type you're using). My cheesy Zoom G3 is doing all of this so much better it's a shame for the Stomp. Needless to say that both the very old GT-10 and my recent GT-1000 are also way better at it.
And fwiw, it was just as bad on the Floor back then (just that at least I was always able to use the fullblown looper), so it's not an issue with my particular unit.

I don't think this can be fixed (as it seems to be at least partially hardware related), but for their next generation modeler, L6 should really either skip the looper or come up with something decent.

The first time I tried to use it, I thought something was wrong with my Stomp because I couldn't get it to register the double press at all after many attempts. I was able to get it with my thumb, and eventually I became familiar enough with the feel that I could get it with my foot every third try or so. How this finicky feature made it past testers is beyond me.

This is literally the first time I've heard about this. Spent five minutes trying to get three Stomps to fail, and I just couldn't do it. Sounds like there may be something going on with that particular footswitch. Does it happen if you assign it to the other switch in Stomp mode?

I never had an issue with it. Does it happen if you assign it to any footswitch or just a particular one? Maybe your footswitches need a good cleaning? I'm not sure if stomp has the same self-cleaning options where you can pump them up and down and twist them left and right to clear dust and what not from it etc.

Yes. And as said, it's been the same with the Floor, just that I rarely ever used the 1 Switch Looper as it had sufficient switches to use the fullblown one.
Really, the most annoying thing is doublepress to stop. Requires a *very* quick doublepress and the switches aren't too accurate, either.
I should possibly try to clean them a bit, but I rather don't want to go there. Besides, it's not that much better with an external switch (a little bit, though, but you loose mode control that way) and the rapid doublepress is still required.

Yes. I agree that they're all kinda suck-y (and not live-ready for very obvious reasons), but it's usually easier to get properly timed loops with the Ditto I had borrowed for a while and the "grace time" between the two steps to stop was somewhat larger as well, IIRC.
