Helix Talk

Possibly the wrong thread so call the cops on me! :) I wanted to do a retrospective review of the HX Stomp, talk about if it's still the GOAT and also try some amps that I've never really used much:

Much agreed about the Stomp being the best pedal ever released. Some time ago i wrote up this hypothesis at TOP and, much to my surprise, pretty much everyone was like "yeah, you're not wrong at all".

You keep telling yourself BS... how can you NOT need one? :rofl

I bought mine without any real necessity and it ends up being used more than my Helix LT -- for home practice, it stays in my night table and it's up and running in 30 seconds. It also serves as backup for gigs.
One day.... one day.....

Why get a stomp if you have a helix ?

A stomps a lot easier to put on a board with other pedals than a full sized helix.

It's a great backup solution if your amp craps out at a rehearsal or gig.

Perfect sized travelling rehearsal tool, I can take mine in my hand luggage when we go to visit my wife's family in california. I definitely wouldn't take a full sized helix.

There's tons of reasons to own a stomp either instead of or with a full sized helix.

It’s a perfect practice rig as well.

That's why when you go with digital multieffect just get yourself one of these and store all your pedals and patch cables there.

Love the Stomp.so much I sold.my Helix floor, sold all me pedals and patch cables and got the Stomp. Now I have Amini board with the stomp, an expression pedal, a couple of mini/midi switchers and room for a pedal or two that can fill anything the Helix platform doesn't have ATM.

I hate the Stomp's power supply. Got a Truetone CS6 to power it+some other pedals on the board. Works great
So do we. We didn't want anyone claiming HX Stomp doesn't sound as good as Helix Floor or Rack, and the only way for it to match its bigger siblings' noise and dynamic range specs was a burly external power supply. The Strymon supplies also provide similar specs.
