Helix Talk

To explain the X-OR idea further, in my mind the foot switches assigned to an X-OR group can be all in OFF state at the same time but never more than one ON the same time (that's another thing you can't do using snapshots, you must use a extra one with all blocks bypassed).

In other words an ON footswitch can be turned OFF by pressing it again (like a normal FS) or by turning on a FS in the same X-OR group.

Sorry if I'm not clear enough but it's not that easy to explain this kind of things in a foreign language.

DI will be my personal hero if he manages his crew to create an 800 model that @James Freeman has no objection to.
I posted this Aug 5th and I stand to it.

SInce there have been discussions in this thread about some bugs in the last firmware let's acknowledge that the PV Vitriol Crunch and the Deluxe Comp have been fixed.(y)
From the 3.7 bug fix list:
  • When Amp/Preamp > PV Vitriol Crunch's Gain knob was turned all the way up, the signal could drop out unexpectedly—FIXED
  • With very fast attack times, Dynamics > Deluxe Comp could sometimes exhibit distortion on some source material—FIXED
  • [...]

Sitting here with acute Helix Floor GAS, of course already downloaded the manual and looking forward to drooling over that, while waiting for my budget to grow ("soon...").

One quick question though, since I'm already way deep into laying out imaginary signal paths (all in my head) for future presets:

Is it possible to route to the following, all at the same time, in a wet/dry fashion?

1) stereo 1/4" out, with left/right (both amp blocks) going to 2 separate power amps

AND

2) routing the exact same amp blocks into 2 cab blocks, and into two mixer channels, via XLR

Sounds hefty, since this would employ 4 outputs at the same time. Is this doable?

Definitely do-able. More than one way, in fact.

Thanks Swirly, that awesome to hear. 😎👍

Figuring it out with the device in front of me should be fairly easy, especially with the (imho) intuitive UI of the HX/Helix family.

Just wanted to know if it's even possible. Much appreciated!!!
No problem! The simplest way is probably just to put a send block between each of your amp and cab blocks. The send block will take the output from that point to one of the 1/4” output jacks, while still allowing the signal to pass further down the path. Then just set the regular path outputs to the XLRs. Ba-da-bing ba-da-done. There are several other ways to accomplish the same thing though depending on your needs & preferences. The Helix Floor has very flexible and capable I/O routing.

Here's an idea...since there are Digitech talents at Line 6...how about the next big update has a more robust looper, store tracks etc and it includes a drum machine function like the SDRUM as an integral component?
I’d love a more capable looper too. Even if it just had two tracks instead of one, that would be nice.

Also, some kind of click or metronome would be cool too. My FM9 has that and I’ve used it to set up loops and also just as a practice tool.

Huh, interesting, when I logged a ticket for the Deluxe Comp bug I was first told it was confirmed as a bug but then later told it was expected behavior. Whatever, I’m glad it’s fixed!

I came across a video from Line6 that explains all boost functions of the new original amp models.

Amp model
Boost
Clarityadds a tube stage with gentle clipping before the amp model
Aristocratadds a boutique boost pedal (Kinky Boost) before the amp
Carillonadds a vintage-style treble booster (Deranged Master) before the amp
Voltageadds an extra tube gain stage
Kineticadds gain and EQ modifications to simulate classic amp mods
Oblivionadds a classic OD (Stupor OD) before the amp

FYC

Step 2: Add a boost option to every amp

Ahhh awesome!!!! I was about to do a James Freeman and put span on Oblivion...probably still should

What was the deluxe comp bug? You mean the one that everyone denied and I was temp banned from TGP for?

In pre-3.60 versions, the attack time on the Deluxe Comp was being limited at the low end of the control, so the time displayed did not match the actual attack time for VERY fast attack settings. We addressed this in 3.60 so the time displayed always matched the actual attack time. As some of you pointed out, this could result in distortion in situations where you had the attack time set below this artificial limit. For 3.70, we took some time to reassess this and find a happy-medium at these extremely fast settings to reduce the distortion while still allowing much faster attack than pre-3.60 versions.

I would doubt this will be possible with the current hardware. I'm sure Line 6 rather reserves all storage space that might be left for, say, future cab updates.
