Helix Talk

That's a good read for all modeler owners.
I like how he also talks about Master Volume vs actual room volume, it's one of the least understood parameters for modeler newcomers, typically wrongly used as just another volume control.

In contrast, I always felt the name “Channel Volume” was a little misleading. For me, I initially thought it was the amp’s channel volume and not the overall volume of the block.

“Block Level,” or something similar would make more sense IMO.

Good choice of example amp right at the start of the article... 😁

Totally. :D

Let me say this, I have measured most available JCM800 plugins and they're all shit except from one company: Softube.
It's either modified amps, wrong pot tapers, random gain amounts, inaccurate master volume or poweramp behavior, fake/missing impedance curve. etc, etc, they are all fucked in one way or another, nobody reached a level of accuracy like Softube did with their JMP2203 and 2203KK.

Line 6 has ONE JOB.
I'm going to measure the F out of their new JCM800, and I'm going to show no mercy.

I’m impressed with all the knowledge on this forum. Like how do you know how to do all that 🤯

Great article thanks for posting it here,

A long time ago I bought a pair of Yamaha NS-10s and a small sub, most of my favorite music was either tracked or mixed using them and a combination of other exotic studio monitors and I wanted to hear ( ...and stay in my budget) to what they were listening to when they were making some of those records.

Great article, Eric know his stuff for sure and of course he is absolutely right
This is also the reason why she you download a patch and well it dont sound nothing like what heard well thats the reason why

Quite some things to make up for confusion. Basically, ""FRFR"" speakers, PA speakers, headphones and studio monitors are all the same. At least they're shooting for the same result (namely "FRFR") and it's way less about the difference between the individual "types" but a lot more about the difference between brands and quality.

Yeah the distinction of "FRFR" vs PA was a bit strange to me but I get what he means. Crazy how much trouble I'm having with the celestion F12-200 compared to any decent 10 or 12" powered PA speaker

I'd like to read @jay mitchell 's take on this.
