Headrush Flex Prime

I want to buy one and "Super Clone" my Helix and Fm9 for fun. Would take like years I bet. Since it now clones plugins it might be faster to clone Helix Native....

I can't stop laughing. I thought NDSP took the gold when they called the QC "The Most Powerful Floor Modeler on the Planet", and then called the NC "The Most Powerful Modeler Pedal Ever". Headrush says, "Hold my beer."

No qualifiers of any kind. :rofl
Hmm, I thought openly using superlatives was a huge no-no in advertising? At least over here in central EU there's a strict red line for malpractice.

You can still indirectly do it via shill "reviews", but in a copywriting slogan/claim it's prohibited afaik.

Also love how they don't show it in thier download page....as it's right above the mx5....and may look a little questionable.

🤣🤣🤣

They also updated the firmware for the prime and core....they get the editor.....so funny.

Legacy stuff....is done now.

Also it's 500USD

I think the HR sounds far more natural...albeit a little 'soft'. GT1000 is just its own thing - there are some good tones for sure...but also many that sound like a distortion pedal plugged into a console
I never got that feeling, after using the GT-1000 three times a week live for many years straight with acoustic, electric and bass direct to FOH. You just have to know how to program it. I'm a beta tester for several mentioned here and do think the HR is far behind just about everything right now.

While you need to know how to program it (which, btw, isn't a good thing to start with), that doesn't change the amps all compressing like mad, sometimes even producing horrible artefacts (I'll post some sound examples in the other thread).

This is literally just an mx5 rebrand. @FractalAudio and I talked about this months ago....

Post in thread 'Started as one discussion, but now it's about engineering and design. Mostly a convo.' https://thegearforum.com/threads/st...ng-and-design-mostly-a-convo.6167/post-244045

We deducted that the mx5 was using the same brain as the prime and core, and was being crippled by the firmware.....so this is just a mx5..period.

Its sad how hr just keeps rehashing stuff they buy and slap their name on it like its some new tech. I do like the core size and interface alot and would love to see it on a fractal

What is the hardware difference between the MX5 and the Flex? I mean, they both can handle the same firmware now so what's the point of the Flex?

It's a little silly how everyone on these parts feel the need to take a giant dump on HR whenever they release something yet Fractal, Tonex and Line 6 can seemingly do nothing wrong. Even Neural, who started a giant dumpster fire when they launched Quad Cortex, get less sh!t around here than HR does.

I get it: HR is "old tech", Revalver is "old tech", their amp cloning isn't as good as the other brands', yadda yadda. All I know is, I have both a Line 6 HX Stomp (fantastic device) and a Headrush Pedalboard and I would much rather dial in a tone on the Pedalboard than on the Stomp, the interface is just that much better. The feature set is not as great as the Line 6 products but the ones that are there are infinitely easier to get at and also just the ones that I need, nothing more.

So can we maybe stick to talking about the actual product instead of just dumping all over the manufacturer? I asked a genuine question about the purpose of the Fractal VP4 when it came out and was practically lynched for questioning the decisions of our Great Lord, Cliff of the Fractal. But then a Headrush product comes out and we're all about burying the product before we even know what it is...

Geez, this elitist fanboy-ism is precisely the reason I left TOP.

Apparently none....from all the group could find...all HR modelers use the same brain.....but they want customers to pay more for another device.... that is the same hardware....but has different software/firmware.... because business.

They think people can't see that they will eventually pay the same, over time, maybe more than, a higher end modeler just keeping up with the new features... on old hardware, period.

I will never buy HR again.

I will make the smart play and spend the money up front and get continued support and updates....along with communication and actual community.

Some of us fought and suggested all the features they put on the new devices.....and they ghosted their own beta team and testers.....and figured they would just shell out more money.....for features capable of running on old stuff ....

But we're dumb...so I guess there's that.

As an owner, and long time tester....I reserve the right to shit on HR/InMusic.....it's kind of my new hobby.🤷🏻‍♂️

Actually, there IS a new wrinkle with this one. According to the marketing blurb over at Sweetwater, this comes with "a smattering of Headrush Clones/SuperClones".

That's notable because even though the more expensive Headrush Prime and Core units can clone/profile/capture amps with that ancient, janky Revalver ACT technology, they ship with no cloned amp models whatsoever!

Not one.

This is for some insane reason exclusive to the cheapest member of the family?!?
SuperClones, this is interesting.

At least Headrest is doing something a bit different..... I still wonder why o why Line 6 is falling behind so much!! Before the YAMAHA takeover they where on the cutting edge.

Just wait, they are going to knock it out of the park (as always).

No thanks. Better interface does not equal better product. It all comes down to the sound, and HR is still at the bottom of the pack.

UI is another factor that counts. Of course, I agree it alone is not making a unit good. But it counts.

I loved my Amplifire 12, but UI was so bad that I got a very difficult moment in a gig. Sold it immediately, despite being the best sounding unit I had at the moment.

Everything counts. Not only sound quality (which is probably the most important factor... Or maybe not, given that nowadays everything sounds good enough for gigging).
