Headrush Flex Prime

Totally agree. My main point has always been that for the money and capabilities, it was a no brainer for a effect unit. In 4 or 5 cable method..or even with my wdw.

I just never jibbed with the limits put on it by the company, especially as a beta member whom essentially gave HR all the ideas....just to ask for more money for features the other units could run. I don't like forced obsolescence. Never have.

My point is even back to the PB...it's all the same brain...but I suppose I know nothing.

All I want is the synth blocks..... everything else is dumb anyway....but I don't need it. I just like exposing BS.....oops. guess I'm just bickering. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Btw. This is me trying the mx5 back when it came (that might be a repost by them though… milking my balls… or whatever) with York IR. I liked the that reverb thing when I made that. Thinks it’s called Ambiverb or something. Very special half reverb half synth thing.

But it can't run synth though?

🤔

I'm being a Smart ass ..

And yes.....I know this thing inside and out ...they always loved my signal chain over there....it helped them troubleshoot a lot of features at once.....

At least it seems to sound a lot better than the GX-10 (pretty much a direct competitor).
Would this be powerful enough to build a kitchen sink preset with 2 amps, some dirt stuff, EQs, delays and reverbs?

The mx5 can do that.

I can have like 4 delays and 3 or 4 verbs at once....and with the 2x amp single slot...along with 2x ir in a single block.... a lot can be done..... already.

Especially when you master the input, mix and output block ..along with global eq....a lot.

All with stored presets per block on the device....and scenes.

Also, preset only took 2 mins to build.

You know, back in the day, the 11 Rack was one of the best sounding units.

The MX5 actually sounds pretty good - may not be as true to the source like Fractal, L6 etc....but the tones are perfectly usable. Now with profiles, it may be pretty good.

I may consider one of these units, should I decide the GT-1000 isn't a keeper.
Unfortunately, they all have insufficient amount of switches and I absolutely want a single all-in-one unit, the most I'd be willing to do would be to add a passive dual switch.
Whatever, prerequisite is an option to build a kitchen sink preset (no really massive one, I *almost* get along with an HX Stomp - but it's just almost, so that one is out) or global blocks (which is why I bought the GT).

The MX 5 would possibly be an attractive thing, though. Are the EXP ins suitable to connect two switches?

Just one..with the onboard 2. And the onboard has a toe switch......and neat advanced parameter control....along with sweep.
You can even adjust how the exp works, such as linear or traditional.

Each exp can control 4 parameters once.

I use a 4 bottom cuvave chocolate midi controller and it opens things way up.

GT-1000 kills all HR units as far as sound. Interface, not so much!

Wait, then what the heck is that second board photo doing there?! :columbo

Having said that, if the MX5 is running the same SoC as Headrush's flagship unit, that's embarrassing indeed...
It was from when I started asking for assistance....before I got more clues....then cliff filled in the rest.....from my research, they use the same SoM across multiple brands....and the coding is done for all brands and ported to different devices as is necessary.

I knew what the chip was....not the module.....cliff verified and revealed they use the same.

This was when they dropped the last firmware....i got very curious. Got banned from the HR forum because of it

I used the mx5 to. Had no issues with it. In fact. My opinion is still that it offers a lot of bang for its prize and size. IRs being the key though. And opinions and crap talk about algorithms and modeling doesn’t really knock it down imo. Like anything today it can sound awesome in the right hands and mind.

I actually came very close to ordering a MX5 the week it launched - i really like that form factor and UI. I just couldn't shake my past sonic experiences with Headrush, which were... underwhelming.

Today there's plenty of strong competition in that price bracket.

I have a GT-1000 right next to me. And all amps sound shite, period.
Amps and drives are ok.... especially in the purely digital realm.

I have no faith in the capture...from all the hr forum posts I've read🤷🏻‍♂️

As long as one knows how to correct and adapt all tools are useful.

Well... Not that bad, is it?

They added super cloning. Profiling with different settings, which are interpolated when you tweak the parameters. This is new so far.

Add to that that the unit is able to run a lot of blocks...

It would be good to see some accuracy tests, and some latency numbers. But hey, HR could be doing worse, I guess.
