How many IRs do you have saved on the III?

753. Across about 4 cabs, with a 421 and 57 for each cab, in multiple positions.

These are basically dyna-packs, in a big list. For all intents and purposes. I do typically only use about 10 of these. But it is nice to have options.
 
The only way it would make sense for a 3rd party to do, is if they were running an IR empire and it was doing well. But I think the bottom line is - the market is moving away from IR's. People want the stock IR's on their devices, or in their DAW's, to just sound good and to just work.
Totally agree. I also feel like companies went overkill for the movable mic systems.

I used the one Hotone offers on the Ampero 2 and it's basically this:
  • Mic type, or multiple mic mix (SM57+121 etc).
  • Position with maybe like 5-6 options in a list starting from center, ending at the edge of cone.
That was surprisingly enough for most things to get a sound that worked for me. I didn't need to be able to carefully move a mic a nanocentimeter to the left, and it was basically just a different UI for choosing IRs from a list rather than blending an IR matrix on the fly.
 
I’m pretty happy to have the moveable mic options there. If there is an element of balancing available storage, I think I’d like to have the option of which mics and speakers get added. Because there’s probably a lot of mics that I’m simply not going to need to use on the device and don’t need them taking up room on there.

I’d much rather use available space for higher resolution IR’s than compromising just to fit in a load of data I don’t need.

But I’m also not totally sold on any companies methods for blending IR’s together with how they’re pre-processed but that’s another issue.
 
I have quite a few York Audio packs, so the user IR spots on the FM9 are mostly full. But after playing around with different cabs and mics I could probably get everything I need out of 20 IR's from each pack.
Dyna Cabs are cool but I never seem to get what I like for higher gain tones. And for me high gain is 800's and juiced up plexi's. Not REAL high gain. I don't chug...

I think it's cool that Cliff was able to fit this feature on devices that were developed years before dyna-cabs were invented.

I don't think that the people complaining that the on device options are limited are giving fair appreciation of how impressive it is that we get them at all.

Added “Deluxe 6G3” amp model based on the bright channel of a 6G3 “Brownface” Deluxe.

Added “Citrus Juicer” Compressor model based on a Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer. Unlike the Orange Squeezer the model allows you to adjust the compression ratio and threshold independently and also features Emphasis, Drive and Tone controls. The ratio and threshold of the actual pedal vary with the particular JFET used and the internal bias trim. Set the Threshold to -26.0 dB and Compression to 8.0 as a starting point and adjust to taste.

Added “Half-Wave” Detector Type to Compressor block. This is similar to the Peak type except the rectifier is half-wave as opposed to full-wave. This alters the attack and release ballistics and can add a bit more grit to the sound.

Added warning if system clock frequency is incorrect (e.g. when using AES/SPDIF as the clock source and the clock is at 44.1 kHz instead of 48 kHz).

Improved Amp block preamp modeling (again). This yields more accurate behavior when the amp input is pushed (e.g., when using an internal or external overdrive/boost).

Went through every model with a fine-toothed comb and adjusted power amp parameters as needed to reflect new modeling.

Fixed instability in Pi Fuzz model for certain values of Sustain.

Fixed wrong time constant in Herbie models (probably not audible).

Various other fixes and improvements.
