Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

That's exactly what I experience with the scribble strips....
I don't remember having problems reading the Helix or Fractal scribble strips. But there is definitely an aspect of "I know switches #1-4 are snapshots" type aspect to it.

I think scribbles would still be superior if the unit is on the floor. The overlay looks good, but I imagine the text is small enough that when standing up you'll be more like "yeah that looks like the right color" rather than being able to read the text well.

Doesn't mean having the option for the overlay would be a bad addition to the XL!
I think the text would be as big or bigger than what’s in the strips, benefit of the big screen. Also, big colour coded box with icon.

If I ever end up dipping my toes into the Stadium pond, I'll want the scribbles! White on black text (as opposed to Fractal's medium blue on lighter blue) would be a major selling point. I can read my (old as dirt, original) MorningstarFX MC-6 with smallish fonts just fine. The Fractal mini-displays? On good days...sometimes. (It did help when they made them bigger. My superturbocharged FM-9 with the playskool sized mini displays is readable....but I still don't like the weird look of 'em.)

Does Stadium show snapshots footswitch colors in the screen? That's something I always missed in og Helix and never understood why it wasn't implemented. It would be really helpful.

I think an important piece of data is missing here...

I'm currently typing this on a Mac. When you red X something, it stays in the dock, and if you click on it, it opens back up unless you right click and quit it. The Stadium app, however, does not open back up when you click on it in the dock. You have to right click on it, quit, and then completely restart it from Finder, unless you've got it living on your dock. The issue is, once you red X it, you can't re-open it without quitting it on the dock, which is unlike any other app.
So I submitted a ticket for this and apparently "they have never heard about this before" and after their macOS dev guy is consulted - apparently this is not considered a bug.

The ONLY application in my entire decade+ experience with Macs and various apps that does this...

It absolutely is a bug. They're not following longstanding MacOS conventions.

And in a follow-up to my tongue-in-cheek Matteo Mancuso Stadium Video above ... here is another professional "dummy" touring with Natalie Imbruglia [Torn] .... and shock horror ..... despite all the naysayers on the Interwebs ..... also happily using the Stadium live ..... when will these pro musicians ever learn that they need to approval from the fourms first ;)

Oh and b.t.w, we have her first 2 Albums ... actually brilliant songs and production .... "Torn" was on the debut ..... both albums were huge and there is a stack of different, varied and unique guitars tones all over them

Stadium seems good enough for Matteo Macuso to use on tour .... poor dummy .... its so riddled with bugs and crashing that he's now outside his return window ... when will the pro's learn and listen to people here and TOP ;)

Interesting that his main distortion patch is an Hx model - the Brit Trem Jumped and not the new Stadium Plexi. He picked a legacy Marshall amp model with a bright cap over that garbage pile that is the Agoura Superlead.

Who could have predicted.

What’s wrong with the Plexi? The guys at Worship Tutorials love it? All the samples I’ve heard sound good too.

It doesn’t have a bright cap. There’s nothing ‘wrong’ with it. They modelled the one they have. A lot of the snarl from a plexi comes from the cap, but also kinda makes it useless for anything other than running it cranked up when it is present.

I remember on the Marshall forum years ago there was a spec spreadsheet of maybe 100 vintage plexis and their specs. They were all over the place, and I’d say the majority had no bright cap. Can probably still find the list.

Matteo Mancuso is such an amazing player and a nice person! Probably one of the best guitar player form his generation.

He could play through anything and still sound great and "like him", like all great players do.

I remembered that he switched to an FM3 some time ago "for the smaller form factor", so it looks like this is not an issue anymore for him to carry such a huge modeler. Or that he signed a new contract, I wish for him that's the case! There's also an HX Stomp just beside the Stadium, I wonder if this is his backup? Maybe.

Thanks for posting the video!
