It's called... Bring someone into the band thats way better than you. I have been hitting it hard now for a solid week just to make sure I can keep up with this guy we brought into the band. Everything. Songs, chops, timing, creativity etc etc. Yes you do have to get creative in a cover band if you don't want to be a human jukebox.
After just a week I am playing better than I have in years. I've even learned like 5 new chords too. I wish I didn't need this to motivate me but hell I will take it. Plus I will have to STAY on my game to hold up my end of things in the band.
