I LOVE Dean’s podcast. I’m not even sure I’ve heard the guy do standup yet, but he’s also a musician who can pull off a ridiculous Bon Scott impression and does gigs in LA with Bill Burr playing drums on occasion. This is a remarkably better interview than the majority of guitar mags have done over the years.
I dunno how much Vai knew about Dean before the interview, but he had to have been caught off guard when a comedian starts talking amp/tube/guitar specs with him the way dean does. Just overall a good interview, questions you don’t normally hear and because Dean knows a ton of people Vai does going back to the DLR days, they hit on some cool stories.
