Man, within the blink of an eye this morning I thought I fucked up, bad.

Echo’s girlfriend was at my feet playing with a tennis ball, she’s a huge sweetheart and just a happy dog in general. Then I see Lola come running in, she’s a known fighter and has been getting into it with a lot of dogs lately. Lola immediately starts attacking Blue right at my feet and after a couple seconds of realizing they weren’t going to stop I reached down to grab a collar and BOOM, I just see white and feel IMMENSE pain in my arm, it felt like it got hit by a fucking baseball bat.

While my bones likely spared me from getting my wrist torn open, the dog bit down on my wrist bone itself. I snapped this pic right when I started getting my vision back, but I was still out of it for a minute after, I can’t think of many times I’ve felt pain like that before. I’ve definitely broken bones that hurt less!! You can see my arm starting to swell just below the wrist.

And that’ll be the last time I ever stick my hands near fighting dogs! Little fuckers don’t know their own strength and man, a dog’s physical size means SHIT when it comes to estimating how strong they are! The dog that bit me couldn’t be anymore than 40lbs, but my lord did it have a fucking bite! It’s still swollen up a bit and REALLY fucking tender depending on which way I move it.

DON’T BREAK UP DOG FIGHTS!!!!

I’ve always just waded in and started stomping heads yelling GOD@MNIT! as loud as I can. Also, grabbing one by the tail and doing a tether ball throw with it worked for me once. NEVER get your hands in there, I guess you already know that one.

Username checks out. :rofl

We did the tether tail one a couple weeks ago, the same dog that bit me today was going after a little guy that probably shouldn't be in the large dog park and little guy caught some air because it was easier to 'gently chuck him by the tail' to safety. :clint

Hope it heals ok Drew.

Our black lab is friends with most dogs in the village, but I often wonder how I'd deal with defending him from aggressive dogs.

I guess the answer is, not with my hands.

Wrist is still swollen and in sunlight you can see a nice bruise around the area, but it's nothing holding me back from playing or anything. Dog had to have hit the bone just right to cause that much pain without actually breaking anything.

The part about this that's a bit 'WTF?' is that Lola's owner regularly sits at the park with two remote controls that control his dog's collars, this dude will 'drive the dogs' around the park like they're RC cars using those damn controls, but when this was going down yesterday dude just stood on the other side of the park and ignored it.

What breed of dog was it ?

Some kinda mutt, I'm pretty bad with dog breeds in general and with mutts, unless someone tells me what it is I'll have no clue.

Whatever it is, there's like 5 pitbulls there that behave SO much better and have never had an issue fighting other dogs and that includes 2 of them who were rescued from dog fighting.

Is your tetanus shot up to date?

I honestly can't remember. I keep a first aid kit in my car though, as soon as it happened I had it all cleaned up immediately. It wasn't even enough for a scab to form, it's actually kinda cool how the tooth managed to scrape a few layers of skin off without actually drawing blood. Looks like a tiny chisel dragged across my wrist!
