Does an amp make sense for what I'm describing?

Quad Cortex is sold...

JJ Junior is still available locally...

Wife said that seemed like a good deal...

I mean that feels like the play, right?
Did you sell the QC locally? I always wait until the 7 day return window/"this isn't how you described it" reverb window is up just to be safe

Through Reverb but guy is local, not too concerned about that.

$850 cash for a Friedman JJ Junior head seems good, right?

Offer $750.
Sell everything else.
Buy an original Koko Boost.
Buy a big Zilla 1x12 semi-open, and put an 8ohm Celestion Cream Alnico in it.
Buy a Sequis Motherload Elemental attenuator/load-box/simulator.
Buy a Joe Meek VC6Q to put on the loop.
A Mini-Ventilator pedal.
A Strymon DIG with Mini-switch.
A Strymon Blue Sky.
Buy some better pre-amp valves - 60’s 161 or 163 Mullards with better than 1.2iA and 1.6Gm.
A pair of NOS 60’s Mullard EL84’s.
Get silver-coated Van Damme/Neutrik 6m guitar cables and use similar patch cables, and Lava Techra speaker cables.
Try a new guitar. Start with a Jem Junior with better pickups, and work up from there. PRS Custom 22 is only $1000 used. Or a USA Strat with Lollars.

Then sell the lot (except the Sequis, valves, and cables), and admit that an original Parker Fly deluxe, and a Seymour Duncan Convertible 100W combo is where it’s at.

Swap it for an original Steinberger and a Splawn.

Move house. Surely it’s the room?

Sell everything, and snag an Indonesian Jem Universe, and a Rocktron Utopia rack-system.

Trade that for a Gretsch Falcon, with a Hiwatt DR103.

Sell everything, and admit that a Les Paul Classic through an original Pitbull is the answer.

Move house again.

Discover Jazz.

Trade in LesPaul and Pitbull for an ES175 and a Roland Cube 40.

Sell everything, and take up remote-control helicopters and drones.

Crash the fucking lot into pieces on a mosque.

Go into police protection in a safe-house.

Discover George Formby, and spend $15000 on a genuine Formby-owned Ukelele.

Realise that no-one gets laid with a Ukelele these days.

Move to Canada under a new identity.

Sell the Ukelele to buy fishing equipment.

Sell fishing gear as you haven’t caught fuck all.

Try Metal Detecting.

Discover an old JTM45 and a ‘62 slab-board Strat buried in your garden.

Edit - (Thanks Jarick. I only wish you could spend a day here, and get the low-down on how I operate, and why I do what I do.)

Say whhhaaat? This is a really old thread, and I don't know what you're referring to and can't be bothered to look.

The update since it's been so long:

I did get the Friedman JJ Junior and it's awesome. It sounds like the tone in my head for clean and high gain. Crunch sounds maybe not but I could probably invest into the right pedal to get there with the clean channel. It's definitely too loud for my home use so I will pair it with a Suhr Reactive Load and run into cab sims.

I still primarily play modelers (Fractal FM9 and Fender TMP) which often don't match the tone or feel of the Friedman but are a lot easier to hook up and much lower noise. They can also be used for effects with the Friedman.

I barely use any of the pedals I've accumulated...it's just a hassle. I prefer using the FM9 or TMP as a virtual pedal board.

Playback system is still something I need to dial in. I didn't love the Orange 1x12 cab at the end of the day (too boxy and mid forward) so I sold it. I do have a Fender FR-12 which sounds really good but still needs an IR, and it's mono. I play headphones mostly still but I think they accentuate the high end too much and that leads to rabbit hole tweaking. What I really want to do is get my studio monitors well dialed in...so I'm messing around with positioning now.

Before you do anything else Jarick - get yourself one of these.
Look on eBay for £150 refurb units with new batteries. The batteries last 3-4 years, and are £50.
Ripple-free mains.
Isolated from supply.
Really quietens down amps that hum, and improves bottom-end clarity.
