I just can’t believe Deadpool canceled his order. He seems like from his post one of those guys that jumps on board stuff.

I guess both if it checks more items to what I may like. At this point, the line 6 is promising a lot but it’s yet to be seen now that they won’t cause they have a good track record, but maybe some people are just on the fence until they implement a lot more items and a lot more models in the new agora and even effect models if those ever will come.
Line 6 is not even gone into deep detail about if the loop or how advanced it is or what it entails so there’s still a lot of and openness to what it actually will do and I know that will come with software upgrades, but like I said, a lot of people would rather waitThey’ll be in stock everywhere in six months anyways.
Trying to pull something constructive out of this, I wouldn’t mind additional clarity from L6 around the future plans for fx in stadium.

IMO we’ve been trained to think of this technology in terms of generations. Folks that still operate in that mentality get confused when there’s no new buzzword for the effects but the amps get this fancy new Agoura hotness.

I’m not necessarily agreeing but Tim’s reservations are apparent, and “no new effects” is a common detractor comment I’ve seen thrown around as one of the more prominent criticisms or reservations folks have when trying to work out the cost to value ratio.

To L6’s credit I think they are just being transparent that amp accuracy is where they are putting their effort right now, but I think some may have the wrong impression that they are not iterating on effects at some point.

Problem is; Tim's had reservations for more than a decade on everything. Consumer advocacy would be great coming from an actual consumer.

The problem is that people haven't been paying attention to things DI has said. There have already been new effects, and they've been added to the current Helix. Those will be coming to the Stadium.

To be fair, a lot of Helix effects are already very good, even if you can argue that e.g Fractal is better (and I would agree).

Let's not forget that for example the Strymon "Stryfecta" of Timeline/BigSky/Mobius have been top tier fx solutions for like 12-14 years. If nobody has been able to truly dethrone them in all that time, I think there's a ceiling to how good a particular effect in any category can really be. It becomes a "different" rather than "better/worse" concern.

As an example, I really like how my Strymon Flint V2 sounds. Some would argue that e.g a Source Audio True Spring does a better spring emulation with more drippiness and brightness...but I like the darker Flint sound because it never overpowers my base tone, and compared to real amp spring reverb is much more adjustable so it doesn't overstay its welcome either. It requires less work to get where I want it than the spring on my SA Collider, and that's got to be worth something.

I would expect that next gen Fractal won't be much different for many of its effects. Maybe they manage to reduce latency on pitch effects, or allow you to have some super high quality setting on the reverbs, but overall I would expect them to retain the glorious sounds already available on current gen Fractal.

Well there you have it, we can argue which product has the better sounding effect of X type until the cow's come home. It becomes highly subjective at some point.

I definitely think so. I think they’re both great, just different flavors. And I definitely don’t like other effects deemed Jesus-like by the community at large, so I for sure feel it is pretty subjective these days.
 
All this talk sure seems like its all leading to TB3 not buying anything or at least returning whatever he has ordered

But why would line 6 even release it to distributors before they put the 1.1 or 1.200 wouldn’t they do that all first before they even gave them to the distributors to distribute??
Lots of manufacturers do this. They will have retailers hold until a specific time to ship to consumers. In this case it was to make sure the update to 1.1 was ready to go. Apple is another company that does this. They will have retailers or shippers hold inventory until a particular launch date.

Even just recently Nintendo did this with the launch of the Switch 2. (Which I got on launch day from Best Buy. And they told me they had been holding them for some period of time).

In this case we can expect some retailers to have them in hand but not be allowed to ship for two weeks. Seems like ship notices from GC were somehow sent out against the agreement.

Some of the reverbs are to me - smoother and finer grained. Really expansive.

I'm sure YGG has some real good stuff in their wheelhouse...they just need to roll it out now on to the Stadium. Maybe the added horsepower will help them.

It might well be the case that Fractal stays on top for tones but who knows? I think they’ll both cross the line of ‘awesome’ in that respect. There’s lots of fantastic sounds in current helix so 10 year newer hardware and development on that = going to be more than enough to make most folks happy.

The interface race is not so close - from what we’ve seen already, Stadium looks quite some way ahead.
