Stadium XL wasn't supposed to ship out until sometime later this month—and even so, the date was still too squishy to say "Oh, it's November XX." Those couple of extra weeks or so are mission critical for us to completely lock in 1.1 "The Day One Update," get our "Updating to 1.1" video finished, and for me to

So….why did we get a shipped notice or label crated if line6 didn’t even dsend lit units to distribution yet? Is it a way for gc to charge your card?

Just a guess, but I think the major mail order distributors either have already received stock or are tracking confirmed inbound shipments. I can see Line 6 wanting to get them in the pipeline somewhat early so the sellers have all their ducks in a row--they've got hundreds, maybe thousands, of units to get out the door on Day One--so things go smoothly on [release date] and people on the interwebs don't complain about Line 6's distribution system/ability to meet a delivery date.

From there it's probably one of two things. Either someone somewhere screwed up, starting a cascade of preorder filling ahead of some schedule that was agreed to with Line 6, or the units aren't really going to ship until mid-November sometime, but the online sellers are getting them ready to go out the door literally at the first moment they can. I'd guess their online fulfillment processes are pretty fixed, and that payment processing is a required to create a shipping label. I'll be a little cranky at GC if they hit my card a couple weeks early knowing they were going to sit on the order a couple more weeks, mainly because it seems at odds with my prior dealings with them. But I'll be a lot less cranky at them than Line 6 would be if they ship before the Line 6 support infrastructure is in place.

Another wrinkle is whether Line 6 was able to intervene on Friday/Saturday and, in the case(s) that retailers were planning to start sending units out the door immediately, halt the shipments.

No matter how you slice it though, there are a lot of relatively mundane paths by which we could have arrived at this juncture. We should know by Monday evening whether orders are actually in possession of the shippers. My guess right now is that retailers are just completing preliminary steps so preorders are filled as expeditiously as possible. Maybe they want them all out of their hands before Black Friday/.Cyber Monday hit.

I just don’t want the first units to have wrong release software

I suspect that’s part of the concern with these shipping….

My understanding (happy to be corrected if I’m wrong here) is that they’ve been built and loaded with 1.0. DI said that 1.1 would be ready at release so the intention was that, as soon as you turn you brand new 1.0 on and connect it to your WiFi, it’ll then put 1.1 on there straight away. 1.2 is still a few weeks away.

I’m guessing the issue they’re facing is they wanted another couple of weeks to make 1.1 as stable / good as possible which is why most places had a release date of 21st or so - to allow time to make 1.1 release ready. If folks get these and start using 1.0 because 1.1 isn’t ready to download, they might have issues that were known about weeks ago and are in 1.1 already but 1.1 isn’t quite at release.

So they’ve now got to decide what to do which, I guess, depends on if they can stop the shipments. Last thing they need is unhappy people returning 1.0 units they should never have been allowed to see….

Yep. Assuming they are heading out the big sellers doors immenently, hopefully whatever the version of firmware that was preloaded is at least somewhat stable, even if it's not something that's gig-ready. For myself, I'd be okay with having the thing and essentially not using it for a couple weeks until new firmware is ready for installation given the circumstances, but I'm probably not a typical user. Simply by having preordered a functionally complicated device like the Stadium (XL), I knew ahead of time there was a chance the initial road might be a little bumpy, and judged it a risk I would accept. That's probably not very comforting to DI and the crew at YGG who might wind up taking some arrows. But hopefully the bulk of the preorders came from people who have an established track record with Helix/Line 6 and most of the pitchforks will stay in the shed.

Of course there's a crowd out here on the webs that would love nothing more than an opportunity to disparage Line 6 over a hiccup in a new device at initial release. But they'd find and avenue for that no matter what.

I also think not. When I saw TOOL in 2019 I waited in a virtual line for the sale, and I immediately got in, and there was already slim pickings because I'm assuming there was a fuck ton of bots waiting to buy whatever they could get to scalp. I was furious lol. It wasn't so bad with the recent Opeth tickets I bought, but it was still crazy how many seats were purchased within a few minutes of the presale.
Not only bots, but also price fixing by the ticket resellers.

Venues should sell tickets directly. Yes, even at that level. Kill all of these ticket reselling companies.

I’m gonna hope L6 didn’t just lose Halloween weekend with their families because of a GC/MF bug. The only activity we’ve seen is from those two sellers, who are basically the same company and likely use the same software.

I don’t want to rain on the parade, but there probably aren’t Stadium XLs next week, and that’s probably a good thing. Still very excited to get my hands on the new hardware, just not willing to destroy someone’s work/life balance for it.

unfortunately 100% percent they did as per Igloo post of FB addressing the issues
He says he has to
Scrub a 300 page manual for reference about 9000 features coming later , so I suspect if even a few of these units has actually shipped and can’t be stopped they are in the office 20 hours a day for the next week
Hopefully that is not the case
I think the Nov 18th date Sweetwater lists was the day or closer to the day they were targeting

I don’t do the Facebook. So DI confirmed they’ve actually shipped?
