What does 1.1 have that isn’t on 1.0? Is it like a bunch of critical bug fixes, or new features?

"Because regression testing, distribution, integration, and validation takes months, 1.0 will clearly be out of date by the time Helix Stadium XL units find their way into users' hands. Therefore, 1.1 firmware will be available on day one; it adds a ton of missing features, bug fixes, sonic improvements, and DSP optimization. We cannot recommend strongly enough that everyone update to 1.1 right after opening the box and powering up."

Right and "Day 1" was supposed to be later this month from what we can gather - and there can be more to it than just the firmware binary (as @Digital Igloo alluded to, manuals, accompanying videos but there can be more too like cloud side, website side stuff.

The products I work on, cloud team was to prepare scaling to support hundreds of thousands (to millions) of products being onboarded, registered and downloading OTAs.
The one we just launched, cloud side barely made it in time for street date.

They could have arrived from overseas faster than expected. All we know is that MF/GC created a bunch of shipping labels. No one knows when they'll be actually sending them out. We'll probably find out by the end of tomorrow or Tuesday. If they haven't gone out by then, I would expect to wait a bit. I don't know why they would be charging everyone ahead of time though.

If they’d waited for 1.1 to be ready, this would hold up production as they’d have to load that in factory. It then takes ages to get them on the boat and to their final destinations.

This was a ‘no harm done’ way of getting the physical hardware to distributors (and to us) well before the Fall deadline and then the firmware is ready for us to update to 1.1 at home.

In the U.K., although I’ve ordered from Andertons (one of the bigger mail order shops here) they are *not* shipping it - it’s being shipped directly from Yamaha. I am guessing this was a way of 100% controlling when they ship to ensure 1.1 is ready. It’s looking like in the USA they’ve trusted their distributors to hold them until 1.1 is ready rather than shipping direct from Yamaha like they’re doing here. Possibly regretting that now as someone out of their control had different plans I guess

Who cares if it’s a year from now but my guess is it’s gonna be six months from now summertime because Cliff knows there’s a lot of fans out there. That’ll just buy it so I’m one hand. He’s not in a hurry, but on the other hand, announcing little tidbits about what’s comingwill make a lot of people pause on their stadium purchase which is a good thing for cliff as well.

Of course, plenty of guys here I’ll just buy both. I mean I could, but I really don’t want to. I really only want one and I want one that’s gonna be superior so in terms of tones effects it’s gonna be fractal in terms of gui and screen ease it’s line 6
And quite honestly all you guys you guys have plenty of stuff to play for the next six months anyways that you own and I really don’t foresee the stadium or stadium XL taking off like gangbusters within six months of release. In fact this regular stadium is gonna be out till next yearso I understand a lot of people are just gonna wait because it’s not like it’s gonna be sold out in six months to a year every store will have plenty of them and those 15% coupons come around three times a year anyways.

I guess both if it checks more items to what I may like. At this point, the line 6 is promising a lot but it’s yet to be seen now that they won’t cause they have a good track record, but maybe some people are just on the fence until they implement a lot more items and a lot more models in the new agora and even effect models if those ever will come.
Line 6 is not even gone into deep detail about if the loop or how advanced it is or what it entails so there’s still a lot of and openness to what it actually will do and I know that will come with software upgrades, but like I said, a lot of people would rather waitThey’ll be in stock everywhere in six months anyways.
