Hey hey @DrewJD82, as our resident Gilmour expert and built in Gilmour DNA
Can one do Comfortably Numb on a 21 fret Strat or is it best on 22 seeing I'm a noob seems it would be easier on a 22 fret

Cheers

Mike

You’ll be fine one 21, it builds character!!

I think Gilmour had a 22 fret neck on the Black Strat at one point, but I believe that was the neck with the lock nut from the Kahler installation and it went to the Hard Rock. So let that be a lesson, if you play it on a 22-fret neck you have to give your guitar to the Hard Rock.

Grover made him the neck and put on the Kahler.
The Kahler killed the tone and he stopped using it.

Why would it not be possible? Highest note is D6, which would be located at the 22nd fret of the E1 string. But as its reached through a halfstep bend, it's no issue on a 21 fret guitar. And no, on typical Strats it's not easier to play that with 22 frets as the neck heel is the same.
