I did hit the dreaded CPU limit once using one of the pitch block settings. I may need to craft a few presets that are relatively barebones for some of the more cpu intensive blocks, and then just have one master preset for the core tones.

My advice for the FM3 is to not build kitchen sink presets at all but "does a couple of things well" presets. Use the block library to be able to put your favorites on your other presets, or save a template preset you can copy around.

If Fractal manages to add gapless switching to the FM3, then kitchen sink presets become even less relevant.

Random thoughts having been able to actually play some guitar today.

• FAS Lead 2 is a great model
• The pitch block is amazeballs
  • @2112 library for the pitch block is epic. The Dual Detune and Dual Delay/Detune’s are really great.
  • I hit a cord and was like “This is instant Leon” It’s really awesome for you to share those. I would not have gotten to building those sorts of tones for months. That stuff is seriously a major contribution to the platform.

It's super cool to know those are getting used. I got to do a bunch of gigs in stereo the last month or so and that Dual Detune is HUGE live.

I did the POG by ear just trying to cop the basic vibe of the pedal, but the real thing has a few additional effects like the resonant low pass filter and volume swell that would require some extra blocks. It works best before the amp and it's awesome with fuzz if you want a bit of a Muse/Royal Blood thing. It's a great example of a pedal where the way it sounds and the way it operates or so hard to separate from one another.

They’re awesome man. Lots of stuff in there I’d never configure on my own. I don’t know what voodoo is in those Dual Detune and Dual Detune Delays but it’s really awesome.

I didn’t try your POG settings before the amp block. Makes sense, I didn’t think about that when demoing that block. I’ve been using the pitch block post-cab, but it makes sense the PoG would work best early chain like on a traditional pedalboard.

The Turtle is not that device.

I didn’t give enough thought to the potential limitations of that version. (Though to be fair I’m not sure I would have dove in first with the AxeFx, so the Turtle was the gateway)

Unfortunately I didn’t come to that realization in my return window, so I’m going to eat a big ole bag of dicks re-selling the Turtle.

If any of you freaks want a 5th or 6th Fractal device to serve as the backup for your device in the guest bedroom, hit me up.

Time to browse for racks.

Yep, that’s exactly what happened to me. I managed to resist the temptation for a while, but eventually caved and sprung for the big boy. Oh, and I bought my FM3 right before the FM9 was introduced, which was also a bit of a “Doh!” moment. But there was the usual new release waiting list, so I went straight to the rack unit.

Now I’m back in a band, and I love the portability of the FM3, but the capabilities of the rack unit means that I haul it and the foot controller to rehearsals half the time. The FM9 is actually the perfect unit for my current needs, so I’ve been setting the play money aside and here I am…

Not as much as what The Other Place used to generate, but way more than they do now. I would guess that a lot more Fractal owners would have moved over here if this place was around when Cliff got suspended and a lot of people migrated fully over to the Fractal forum.

You know I make jokes but it’s got to be frustrating being unable to be satisfied with any piece of gear more that 2 weeks

I mean we all get gas and want to try out the new stuff but that guy is always on the hunt it’s like a need to find something that works not a that’s cool I want to try that

The problem is it a fools errand as nothing is going to do everything you want if you are that picky and you end up just going in circles and probably losing mondo $$$$ in the process

Yeah we all joke about GAS but it can be a huge issue (speaking from experience).
