$300 is a ridiculous price. I’d buy it on principle alone. :grin
Yeah, this is my current position. He's gonna send me videos confirming it's actually mint. Soonest I could get out to snag it is next week, so hoping it's still there when available. Given how deep through the woods this dude is located, highly likely it'll still be there and why it's listed so low.

I hope it lasts. And it is not amp bait to kill and/or maim you. :beer

The ED is a great amp. It shouldn't be as "dark," and ought to be fire as a tube power
amp, since most of the warmth of the amp is in the tonestack---which you wouldn't
be using. :idk

You’d think, but I wonder if the Simul-Class has something to do with it? I recall the manual saying something about it smoothing out the sound.

I wonder?? :idk

Kind of beyond my paygrade. I do l know Mesas has long made Simul-Class Power
Amps that are supposed to be more or less neutral. Then again, I doubt any power
section is absolutely neutral.

Probably getting a bit in the weeds here while we wait for @Boudoir Guitar to get
into them there woods first. :beer

Was thinking the same thing re. the 2:90 amps (or whatever those badass beasts are called), as we were talking about it. Hmm...

Excellent word play!

Here's what the manual says (yes I'm this much of a Mesa nerd now, I guess):

"Simul-Class continues to work its magic here, smoothing the rough edges while protecting the basic character..."

Now as to what "smoothing the edges" means exactly, who knows...

Honestly, as long as there's not some weird impedance thing, or the challenge of a parallel effects loop or anything janky like that, I'll be good. I get along juuuuuust fine with slight variations in power amps. And I'm preeeeeetty certain that no matter what, if this thing is actually in mint condition and procurable for $300, it will be THE.BEST sounding $300 powered cab for use with a modeler. :pickle

I agree with Tubestack, it’s definitely dark running into the return, I was actually pretty shocked how different that output section sounded in comparison to the 50-watt 6L6 EVH when I tried them back to back. Nothing some EQ in the AxeFX can’t fix, I was fine just using the EQ in the amp blocks. Also, I’m confident I only tried the Plexi’s and Mesa’s into the return of that particular amp.

Still, $300 is badass!!!! I’d absolutely buy that, even owning the head. Every time I plug into that amp it’s like “Ohhhhhh that’s right, I keep forgetting I fucking love this thing” and I wouldn’t mind having a combo. Hahahaha though I hear they’re heavy AF!
