Amp Modeler Tier Ranking

US is south of the Border From me here in Quebec, and the price difference is quite substantial from USD to CDN , still was well worth every penny
Best thing i ever bought gear wise

(...) I have no complaints about G66 as a company though. Good support and service. (...)

Yeah. Except for the substantial price hike, I've had nothing but good experiences with G66. I'd still prefer to be able to buy direct from Fractal and have never understood why they won't let me.

I doubt Fractal is set up (nor wants the headache) for sales to Europe. There are fees and tariffs that need to be collected (most European countries charge tariffs on American goods), and the savings over buying from G66 are not as great as you might think they are.

Yes, @Frodebro, that has been the story for years. But I don't really see the downside for Fractal in allowing me to choose to buy directly. The fees and tariffs would be my problem when the shipment arrives here in Norway and not something Fractal would have to deal with. (I'm disregarding any return issues here - that could complicate things.) BTW; since Norway is not part of the EU, this is how it works for me buying from G66 as well (G66 exporting to Norway without EU VAT and me paying Norwegian VAT when the shipment arrives in Norway [collected by the carrier]). And I do believe there is considerable potential for savings for me if I was allowed to choose to buy directly from Fractal.

But I don't hold my breath - this will probably not change. So I'll shut up about it now.

I just bought a second GT-1000 Core. The effects are great, the latency is almost non-existent, I don't have to worry about the CPU having a panic attack, and I just recently started trying out the distortion and amp blocks, only to find that they are quite pleasing. The "classic" models are decent, but the "advanced" models are quite good. The names not hinting to what they are "based" on likely makes people not interested in the modeling, but I like it.

X-Crunch amp is hard to beat! I'm half tempted to go back to my GT-1000 again for like the tenth time. Nothing else can come close for live gigs.

I tried a handful of them (not all of them) with minimal dialing in. The Supreme, Boutique, and one of the X amps (I forget which off hand) were quite good. The ability to change the gain stages is awesome. Some of the overdrives are great, though some (like the T-Scream) are not my thing. I'd just use an EQ for a level/mid boost instead.

Seems a lot of guys here and over at the other forum are starting to warm up to the TMP as fender seems to be stepping in and doing a lot of updates and upgrades maybe? To the person that said they trust buying from a store instead could maybe mean that they can go in a store in haggle a little bit which guitar centre for instance or I go. I can always get at least 15 to 20% off of an item And the manager have a rapport. Worst case. I could probably get at least a certain percent off and he accommodates it so maybe that’s what that poster was talking about.
Whereas with fractal I trust them based on everything I’ve heard but you just pay with their rate is and that’s it
Plus here at the guitar centre that I go to there’s a tone of used modellers from boss and from head rush and I have yet to see any from fractal Kemper or TMP
