All Things ENGL!

Sorry for the turd emoji, E! :hugitout

I think you know what it is in reference to. Also, the "Frequency Compensated Outputs"
are supposed to be tuned for use with running the Preamp direct to Mixer/DAW.

You'd have to be deaf to think it was even decent enough.

I kind of don't even know why they are there, to be honest. It has Line Level
Outputs and a Line Level Attenuator for up to a +15db of added Gain.

In some ways this Preamp feels very 1990s.... and not in a good way.

I have tried it with Headphones. Frequency Compensated Outputs to Mixer.
Line Level Outputs to Mixer.

Yet to power it with anything Tube based.

We'll see.... but no way close to leveling up to what I am getting out of the
Fractal Engl Models at the moment. :idk
I really liked that preamp into a powersection. Ime, any preamp into IRs will be on the dull side of the coin, and would need a poweramp model added, or an eq boosting highs and cutting some low/lowmids.

Indeed the cabsimmed output is what you’d expect from analog cabsim…rubbish

Yup. Totally get that. My original idea was to pair it with the Fractal and use that
for some PA Modeling and the Cab Block/IR. But that's a no go.... so I stalled on
that and tried to run it direct (and with Headphones) and that's where the show
went sideways and essentially got cancelled. :idk

For the time being.

Exploring other options right now is a time suck for me, and I can't be bothered
at the moment. If I am lucky, next week I can revisit all of this, and murder myself
with hauling out gear and setting it up, and cabling this to to that, to try it all in
other configurations.

Maybe. :beer

I did think the cleans had something there. Just when you pour on the gain there's
no body or weight to the tone and it is all preamp snarl and sizzle--as to be expected.

I really wish we could. Mainly because my direct tap that's going to an IR and to FOH is from the FX loop of the amp.

Yup. No way that I know of to eliminate the Preamp section in any of the models. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As I was just telling JiveTurkey, I wussed out. :(

I kept telling myself, "I know I'll love this amp because I love playing the QC captures so much!" Thus reminding myself that I could just play the QC captures. :/

And yes, I imagine we were looking at the very same amp(s): an $1170 Blackmore on SW Gear Exchange, and a $1200 Artist 50W on Guitar Center? The former was what I was leaning toward, and naturally some promotion expired last night and the price jumped to $1300. And now that my brain has fixated on $1100 and change, I can't spend a penny more. That's just science LOL.

P.S. If you really want to keep breathing life into this thread, I'll ask again in earnest: What would you guys go with given the choice? A 100W Ritchie Blackmore, or a 50W Artist Edition. And why?
I would go with the artist
If you prefer the EL34 more British hi gain and crunch

Man, I owe you big time @TheTrueZoltan!

So easy to do. I just copied all of the Power Amp settings from the Savage 2 Model in the
Fractal and did as @2112 suggested and with everything at 12:00 on the E530 it freaking
smokes. :love

This is what I was hoping to accomplish a week + ago when the E530 arrived. Now I am here
and could not be more pleased. It sounds and feels like I would assume it should. Total keeper. :chef
