All Things ENGL!

Ok, I’ve re-arranged things a bit at my place. I’m about to contact Bad Cat about the Reverb issue with the extension cab. I followed the instructions in the manual and have those both connected to the 8Ω jacks on the amp. When I disconnect the extension cab and re-connect to the combo amp 4Ω the issue disappears.

So I may use the extension cab (V30) as 1 of the 8Ω cabs for the Artist Edition. I have a Marshall 1912 8Ω 1x12 I can move (currently under the Fireball 25) to be a 2nd 8Ω cab for the AE.

If I move the 16Ω Orange 1x12 where the 1912 is atm, the Fireball 25 can use it and I can swap Terrors as wanted. Black Cat and Artist Edition 50 in the other room.

I have a Radial A/B box sitting on a shelf. Stereo beckons – either with the Black Cat with ext or the Engl using both 8Ω cabs and the Black Cat as combo. Terrors as needed.

My Vox AC10C and Marshall DSL5C are jealous of the attention.

About 5 seconds after hitting the first chord through the E530 I was like, "I think I'm
good." :guiness

Morse is officially going back now. E530 is staying. And I am going to bide my time and
be patient on the pursuit of a Savage (or other Engl big boy amp) for the time being.
For these are the tones I was a-chasing!
Nice to know it worked for you. The power amp is so important in making these preamps sound like we expect. I’ll be keeping an eye out for a good price on an e530 after I recover from my coming amp tech bill.

Does any other FB25-owners use the built in attenuation? Curious to know what you think of it. I often run it with speaker off into IRs because of living situation. Maybe it would be better to run the preamp into some sort of power amp sim like @la szum with the E530?

Edit: or an actual reactive load kind of thing, but I don’t have room/budget for it really.

Yeah, if a load box isn't an option, I'd definitely recommend to run the preamp of the FB25 through a power amp sim. The only problem is that there are so few really usable power amp emulations available.

I stopped being lazy and set up a Recto Modern and Vintage power amps in the III last night! Excited to try it out!

Doooooooooooood! Please report back. :beer

I can't thank TTZ enough for posting that video. I am pretty sure I would
have caved and not gotten the results I am getting---which are so damn
satisfying. It sounds AND feels like an amp, and not a thousand Bees sadly
trapped in a Campbell's Soup Can. :banana

Exactly. I’m always second-guessing the resistive load (and the wear on the tubes) but there’s really not a lot of digital alternatives floating around which doesn’t cost more than a Captor, which from what I’ve read isn’t optimal either.

Will do. I am going to hook the multiwatt up to the Suhr then from the send into the III for power amp sim/FX and a cab block. Might not be for a day or two but I will report back \m/

Recto power amp sim in the III is damn good. The issue it rears back up is of course how goddamn good the Recto models (and all the Mesas) are in the FAS world. Jesus :guiness :guiness :guiness

That redundancy aside; mission accomplished \m/
