I just saw the Artist Edition 50w head in-store in my town, and it's about the right price too - affordable! 4 channels, EL34's...much goodness at least by specs.

And now you throw Rack gear at me - a gear junkie web-surfer without a rack.

Sometimes the lack of availability in Australia is a blessing to my bank balance. Often it just bites.

That Artist Edition 50 is very tempting indeed. Much more afforadable and practical for me than waiting for a Mesa Mark VII to appear, that I can't really afford atm and don't have the space for a 4x12. That's about 4 times the price of an Engl 50 in Oz - a vertical 2x12 is optional.

Loved that preamp!!…for its medium gain sounds. (Sure it does high gain excellent also, not my thing)
Hit that contour button, crank the low mids, gain at the point where you get sustain…almost dumbly

Btw…did you know you can use the headphone out to drive cabs? You need a trs, mono 1/4 inch in poweramp mode short circuits stuff…bad idea. If I’m correct a 2x2.5w poweramp in there.

I way preferred the 530 with a poweramp (or model of one), I’d try and pair it with something that’ll do the poweramp thing if you can

Here I am telling everone how much I love my Fireball 25 and now I "need" an Artist Edition 50. Can't get a Marshall, Mesa, Tone King, Bartel or Friedman for love nor money atm.

And there is only 1 in-store, so if I don't "pull the trigger"...

I get it completely. I get tired of these kinds of "experiments" pretty quickly. I've certainly had more than my share over the years If nothing else; it can give you a better idea of how it sounded if you used the "whole amp" vs. just the preamp section.
