Same hereSrsly, if this was a 50 watter; it would be on my radar INSTANTLY.

Now that I think about it yepYeah BAD is spreading their dev work across the family. Probably the same app as the IRX just retooled for the SYN20.
I’d guess this year there will be a couple IRX variants from their other brands, and probably another Astro-like head or two from them.
It's also another 20 watt turd.
No it doesn't -- the added cost of putting in digitally controlled potentiometers that require connection to an app would be ridiculously higher than just putting two more regular ol' pots on the face of the unit. Now that I think about it yep
The presence and thump are probably in the editor
They may even have the bright switches in there
I makes sense actually and does allow saving some real estate on the front panel
Aren't most Synergy modules preamp gain based designs? And even the Plexi, Blackface etc are most likely designed around a clean poweramp and to just sound like the expected amps.20 watts. So too loud if pushed at home without any power amp oomph and not loud enough for a gig.
Sure. But I still need that power if I want to gig it.Aren't most Synergy modules preamp gain based designs? And even the Plexi, Blackface etc are most likely designed around a clean poweramp and to just sound like the expected amps.
I would assume that Synergy would also add IR capability to their 50W head eventually.
That's exactly why 20 watts is concerning.Aren't most Synergy modules preamp gain based designs? And even the Plexi, Blackface etc are most likely designed around a clean poweramp and to just sound like the expected amps.

It depends on the space throwing a few extra pots on is not as easy as it seems depending on how busy the inside isNo it doesn't -- the added cost of putting in digitally controlled potentiometers that require connection to an app would be ridiculously higher than just putting two more regular ol' pots on the face of the unit.

I don’t know the Astro is pretty decent soundingSure. But I still need that power if I want to gig it.
No. The app has a digital model of a poweramp, and includes presence and depth parameters for that digital model. What you are talking about here is going to be like a Chase Bliss pedal, or the Suhr analog delay pedal (or that Walrus analog delay pedal) where the circuitry is analog (because this is an actual tube power amp, not a model of one) and includes in it some sort of variable resistor whose value is controlled by a microprocessor. Which, as the price of Chase Bliss and the digitally-controlled analog pedals shows, is not a cheap thing to implement. It depends on the space throwing a few extra pots on is not as easy as it seems depending on how busy the inside is
The App on the other hand
They have successfully done
And tested with the IRX pedal and then the Astro amp
For the record I agree depth and pres knobs would be great and my preference but they obviously have reasons for omitting
The 30's power section fells surprisingly anemic tbhI’m interested to see if they eventually add the clean channel and IR capabilities to the 2-module 50w head.
This 20IR ticks a lot of boxes in theory, but it would have been cooler to have the 30’s big boy power section and controls.
Curious what the pricing will be.
