I don’t know the Astro is pretty decent sounding
If they are using the JJ 6v6s tubes those are not your dads Fender 6v6
They are more in line w a 6l6 and also could punch out much higher than 20 watt

Too funny, I just sat down to get ready to put these in-

It seems just putting an actual potentiometer on the face would be cheaper and easier than some sort of digitally controlled presence value -- its an analog power amp, not a digital model of a power amp.
There is Poweramp simulation on the headphone output

I would assume that Synergy would also add IR capability to their 50W head eventually.
Yeah, I'd expect at some point there would be a Mk2 of the 50W since it should be relatively 'easy' with the R&D in the bag on the power amp and cab stuff and it would add a lot of value. The 30W amp may or may not get a rev if this thing is popular, I guess it could supplant the 30W since customers looking at smaller form factors are gonna go one or the other and this thing is the new hotness although, I think the extra headroom and big bottle power section on the 30W are enough to sell me on it, many home studio and people wanting to run direct, etc, may consider it the less desirable unit.

Bottom line: It looks like a cool product for a lot of folks. If it perpetuates further module development I am down since I have a Syn rack rig and the 30W.

This 20W will compare well to other 20W amps, IMHO and Synergy's stuff is good quality. Now whether a 20W amp is your thing or not, you pick.

If only they made something where you could use your own power amp...

why couldn't you use your SYN rack rig with your own power amp?

I think for me, the size/form factor is the selling point, depending on the selling price. Having said that, for my use case, (cab on stage for me, direct to the PA), I'd be perfectly fine, getting a used 30 head. I would think the direct out on the 30 is plenty good enough for any soundman I run into.

I think that was his point, they already have multiple enclosures (single and dual module) that let you bring your own power amp to the party. So if the 20/30/50 watt head options don’t tickle your fancy then you always have the SYN1/2 options.

Was a joke. People here are complaining about the power amp in this when the company offers an entire range of products including stuff that addresses their complaints, re the 20's power section.

I get it, we want every product to be designed just for us. I'll bet a lot of people will be into this new head, though. Friedman does just fine w/ 20W EL84 amps and he is heavily involved w/ Synergy these days.

If the 20 does great we'll likely see an updated 50 or maybe even a 100 with the digital back end, I would think. That'd probably be more suited to folks disappointed at the 20W/EL-84 config.

Trying to figure out the switch on the module - Speed? No clue on the bottom setting...

Edit: Apparently Speed/Comfort. Lol...

That’s Brad Paisleys amp check the specs it has the same controls , that’s Damn cool

IIRC the speed is a faster preamp response for the fast chicken picken stuff
Comfort has softer attack more sag
