I don’t think I’ve ever seen an internet discussion about an amp under 50 watts that didn’t include this comment. It’s like people still think a 50 watt amp must be half the volume of a 100 watt amp

Back on this topic - I have noticed this as well. I guess the relationship between watts and loudness is not well understood.

Otherwise, big vs small is all about musical context and preference, and that's it.

My OR15 was the only one that could hang with a loud drummer but I was playing it thru a full stack. No cleans or solo headroom at that volume obviously. Not all amps are as loud as they claim to be.

This dawned on me when I plugged into a tube amp for the first time. It was some 15-20w fender amp.

I was used to low wattage cheapest solid state amps.

When I played a chord, I almost fell down surprised. A friend yelled at me out of shock and asked me to turn down the volume.
