Cheap SS Amp for Stereo Practices?

Now that I’m totally addicted to a stereo setup I think I’m going to bring a small solid state amp to practices that aren’t at my studio. I’m still not going to drag all of this to a gig but when we’re rehearsing in a small rooms at lower volumes it would be fun to run another cable to a small amp for stereo delays.

I brought my Marshall belt clip amp for shits & gigs to practice yesterday but it didn’t cut it, it got completely swallowed in the room we play, which is pretty small for a 5-piece band.

I’m looking around on CL and am wondering how many SS watts would I realistically need to be heard with a drummer? I’m looking for the cheapest option possible, it doesn’t need to sound particularly special, just carry the other side of the delay signal. Probably a 10" or 8" speaker is good enough. I just want it to be light, portable, and cheap (<$100). Any other suggestions?

There’s a Pathfinder 10 for $60 on CL but I get the feeling it won’t get loud enough, plus only a 6.5" speaker. Should I just grab the cheapest Crate or Peavey I can find? Am I disgracing the gods by using such low end rubbish?

Cost will probably push you to "old and obscure". I'd aim at finding a 10 or 12" speaker combo that is at least 20W.

I got carslbro glx80 for 60€ in France. Avg price is 80+-. Honestly, 12" is the best size.

When you buy old amps be ready to check (visually) and replace (if they aren’t leaked or deformed still good to replace 30y later) the capacitors.

Also plug mono 1/4" cable everywhere and check for AC and DC current everywhere you can plug your guitar or pedals.

After this you can test it safely. If you can’t test - check at least speaker resistance, amp is unplugged, sure. It should be +-10% as the specs says.

SS amps have 15-40v rails easily. You don’t wanna leak it into your instruments. Tube amps operate x10 times higher voltage.

Upd: glx80 is 21kg. I’d say 4kg speaker, 4-5 for schematics + transformer and the rest is the housing.

Older obsolete amps are probably the move but they can be heavy. Battery powered would be nice so I wouldn’t need to worry about another plug and I could have a min travel rig, but those are probably much more $ and not as loud?

You may want to check out Tech 21. The trademark 10s are super cheap and sound great.

I bought one of those Orange Crush 20watt combos a year or so ago. Nice little clean platform and good headroom. I liked it.
I ended up giving it to my nephew because he started guitar, he needed it more than me.
